The review about using collars is absolutely untrue. The only collar we have ever used is a sonic collar that emits a sound that dogs hear. We do not believe in any kind of pain given to a dog to stop them from barking. Our doors are always open and you can see through our glass windows at the dogs any time you come in. I have an incredible staff that is really doggie savy and we all enjoy our work and love the dogs very much. We use lots of exercise and fun to ease any kind of anxiety and it really does work. We are open 7 days a week stop by and look in. You will see alot of happy dogs running all over the place having a good time.

Pros: Dog lovers here

I loved this place until I got my dog home June 10, 2008 and noticed the SHOCK COLLAR on him without my permission or even notifying me. When I called AVIP, the woman said my dog was "barking too much and getting in other dogs' faces." She swore they never actually used it but said dogs are smart enough to know what the collar means. My dog has never worn a shock collar and while I am sure he's smart, I disagree with her assessment that he would just "know." I will never take my dog back there.

Cons: They use shock collars without asking owners.

I inherited a little Pomeranian named Daisy. Daisy is so cute, but she is 15 years old. I was so concerned about taking her to just any groomer or boarder around. She had also been through enough already, and I wanted her to be treated like the little angel that she is. I heard about A Very Important Pet through some colleagues of mine and decided to give the place a try. When I walked in, the owner just happened to be at the front door and she opened the door for me and gave me a big welcoming smile. She immediately started talking to Daisy. Daisy seemed to respond to her. I put Daisy down and she got scared. The owner assured me Daisy would be fine and that she would have a good experience here at the center. So I dropped Daisy off. A few hours later I received a phone call to come and get Daisy that she was ready. When I picked Daisy up, she was so clean and well groomed, she was adorable. They had done such a beautiful job and Daisy seemed in such good spirits that I knew she had a good time there. She also had a ribbon in her hair that made her so cute, I could not wait to hold her. She was barking and talking to the other dogs, as if to say good bye, see ya later, my mom is here. She looked wonderful, she felt great and the price was reasonable too. Since Daisy had such a nice time there, we know we will use the daycare service as well.

Pros: Parking is easy for pick up and drop off, Friendly service, dogs receive lots of attention

My friend has been taking her poodle to AVIP for years and she suggested I try it because I have to go away on business for a few days every month. It is always an issue what am I going to do with my boy. They have made it so easy for me...I love it! Even for the grooming I just drop him off in the morning on my way to work and pick him up on my way home. He gets to play in the morning with all his friends and he comes home looking gorgeous! Even when I go away he stays there a couple nights a month and when I pick him up he looks and smells so good... There are alot of poodles there I guess because Jaycee the owner has a few standard poodles herself. I highly recommend this place even for the non poodle person :)

Pros: Our lifes passion

My dog just loves this place. I can always count on them to take the very best care of my dog. They are always so concerned and have gone out of their way many times to accomodate us. My friend watched our dog while we were vacationing for 3 days. He got away from them and ended up in the pound. I was beside myself. A Very Important Pet went to animal control and got our dog out of there and washed him up and boarded him there for the next few days until I got back. That limo service is awesome. I know what I will do next time we go away. We are loyal avip customers now! Love it!

Pros: Very nice and clean

I have been boarding my dogs here for over 2 years and I use daycare on a regular basis. My dogs love the place and the staff! They really are dog lovers. On Mother's Day I took my dog to the dog Beach In Tampa and on Monday morning I took Sassy to daycare. As I was in my car driing to work, they called me to let me know that they found a tick on her head...I was impressed and grateful! They were so with it!

I just tried a Very Important Pet and was really happy with the service. I had been using Pet Smart for my dog's grooming but I always ended up spending about $65 and that seemed a little bit high to me. My dog is a rescue dog and hates the noise of the hair dryers so she always came home damp and I still paid $65.00. I drove past a very important pet and stopped to check it out. They did a great job with my dog, her coat is very fluffy and shiny and they only charged me $50.00-though I would have paid the $65.00 because she looks great! Also, they were able to get her in that day--which would NEVER happen at Petsmart.

Pros: less expensive than petsmart and faster service

Cons: none

I have had to board my dog three times in her 6 years so far. I have never felt as comfortable to board her as I did at VIP. They really took the time to answer all of my questions and showed me the room where the little dogs all play together. I did not feel rushed and they were very patient with a mother that asked many, many questions. She has been suffering from a chronic itch and they suggested that I try the oatmeal bath. I was a little bit worried about another person bathing her but when I picked her up from her stay, she smelled really great and had no dander. I found them to be very accomodating to my schedule and my dog.

Pros: affordable home like environment

I took my dog here for 2 days and he was supposed to be kept away from the other dogs because of recent paw surgery he was still limping. When I picked him up, the medication which I had left with the owner hadn't been given to him and she had charged me $2 a pill to administer it. He was full of ticks and I don't believe he had been out at all that day because even though he was marking territory when I got him outside, he was going for much longer than usual. The owner actually had the nerve to tell me to never come back. There is no way I would take my dog back there. She says she does it cause she loves the animals but she is in it simply for the money. The vet I took my dog to after I left there said they have heard bad things about this place. I wish I had known before hand there is no way I would have taken my dog there and would never recommend this place to anyone!!

Pros: NONE

Cons: TOO MANY DOGS
