Great food..love the atmosphere by Amber N. at InsiderPages

Sometimes I go here just to shop thru the country store. Cracker Barrel has the best down-home country atmosphere, from the rocking chairs on the front porch to the country fried steak. I love the store especially at Christmas with all of the decorated christmas trees in the store and the many christmas items.
Good home cooking style

Went there twice in two weeks. First time at 2:30 PM and it was pretty quiet in there. We were seated immediately and the waiter came to our table promptly. She took our order: Me lunch of Hamburger platter and my guest ordered breakfast of eggs & pancakes. Our order arrived quickly; the waiter was cooperative and very pleasant. She continued to visit our table and brought additional items as asked for.
Hamburger was meaty, fresh and cooked as requested (medium-rare). The sides of fried okra and dumplings were also great. My guest had eggs over-easy with sausage and they along with the pancakes were cooked perfectly.
My second visit at 12:15pm was not as pleasant as the first. We were quickly seated and the waiter appeared promptly. First I told her that we were in a hurry so we needed to get our food as soon as possible (You know where this is going) I ordered the Meatloaf platter with a small salad, fries and green beans. My guest again had the eggs & pancakes special. The salad took a long time to arrive at the table. Quickly followed by the entree platters. My meatloaf was dry but the fries were good. I did not eat the green beans because they put pork in it. The salad with ranch dressing was good. My guests breakfast order was good, except because she asked for sausage, they gave her patties. When she complained, the waiter said that if you want sausage links you have to say you want sausage LINKS not sausage. Oh! Anyway, because of the delay, we ate in a hurry and of course we had to rush to our meeting. Other than that, this Cracker Barrel is like most others I have visited. I say good home style cooking, fresh and tasty. Oh, also a little down-home slow…
- Pros: Comfort food. Lots of locations and consistant
- Cons: The service could be slow. Atmosphere sometimes not bright.
A little ole' country general store serving down-home foods and goods since 1969.

In Short
Originating in Lebanon Texas, this country store and restaurant has branched out all over the U.S. The décor includes old advertising signs, farm equipment, early kitchen appliances and photos which complement the country-style seating. Their menu includes home-style comfort foods like meatloaf and house-made mashed potatoes daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure to stop into the gift shop for souvenirs and a variety of knick-knacks.
