The good may be great but the owner is incredibly mean and unprofessional behind closed doors. He treats his eployess terribly and has been known to throw things at them. If you ask me I hope his business fails.

Most Tender Flavor Filled BBQ

These guys understand the virtue of patience when it comes to BBQ. True smoked meats are both tender and flavorful and this place does it right. There aren't words to describe the taste. You just have to experience the food. Where else can you go and be awed by just eating a burger? Do yourself a favor and just try it. Best BBQ around Tampa Bay. ( I don't work for them, I am just a very impressed customer)

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA - I wonder if Jaymer & Cyndi can figure which disgruntled immature ex-employee is Daisy Down. I have known these people for years and they are wonderful people. I know they have a quality product and expect the same from their employees, I guess this one didn't make the cut! Oh - I am still laughing. Whew - seriously, the food is great, AWESOME RIBS, great flavor. They have won best ribs in brandon for a few years now and it shows. They have even opened up a cafe that his wife owns, next door to the bbq shop, I think its called Ms. Cyndi's Corner or something like that - GREAT homemade chicken salad. I think most of us are old enough and smart enough to ignore the likes of Daisy Down, maybe someone should put Daisy Down!

• Cons: Desserts always look too yummy!

Best Pork BBQ EVER!!

While I am not a professional BBQ Judge (although I have been asked to be one) I eaten a lot of BBQ from all across the US including Tampa, Florida, Washington DC, Montgomery, Alabama and Houston, Texas. I'll have to tell you that the BEST pork BBQ I've ever had is at Jaymer BBQ in Valrico, FL. The taste is out of this world; so good that when they ask me what kind of sauce I want, I tell them none. I don't want to cover up the flavor of the meat. And no, I am not related to the owners nor do I own stock, it's just great BBQ!

Jaymer-Que does it all! I?ve been to most of the Bar B Que spots in the area and Jaymer-Que is fantastic due not only to its meats but also the home-made sides & desserts (you can make it on meat alone but it is even better if you have something delicious to go along to make it a meal). I have tried a good sample of the Pork ? Ribs & Brisket in the three times I?ve been there (well worth the trip from Waters & Dale Mabry). I?m going soon just to try the Beef Ribs (normally on Friday night).

Best BBQ in Tampa/St.Pete

Since moving to Tampa from NY seven years ago it has been a goal to seek out the best BBQ available (in fact I had been shipping food in from NC). I have sampled BBQ from local restaurants like Remingtons to BBQ shacks like Sonny's and Flossie's to road side stands throughout the whole area. The styles have ranged from vinegar based NC style to tomato based southern sweet style. But it is rare to find a slow smoked dry rub based style. Well Jaymer offers that and more. Their baby back ribs are hands down the best as is their pulled pork. Second is their brisket. Their sides are excellent (especially potato salad and smoked green beans). As delicious as the food is the smoke flavor is never overdone like so many other places. The hospitality, prices and special events (like the Bluegrass festival) are outstanding. I drive 45 minutes to get there and no longer consider eating BBQ anywhere else in town. There's just no comparison. Hats off to Jaymer and Cindy!

The Best BBQ Anywhere Period!!!

While planning my visit to my dad's house in Plant City over the week of the 4th of July, I went on-line to research the best BBQ in the area as I always do when I travel. I found an article about Jaymer-Q and then a story from the Tampa Tribune which described Jaymer's story and faith in God to provide what was necessary to open his business. We visited on the 3rd and couldn't be more impressed with what a great guy Jaymer was and how good the food was. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I think the pulled pork sandwich is out-of-this-world. The ribs are too great to describe and my wife is still talking about the smoked green beans. Jaymer's is a must. The hospitality is second to none and what a great staff. We can't wait to visit again on our next trip down from PA.

Excellent BBQ!!! I highly recommend the Chicken Salad and all Chicken entries. They are awesome. I have never filled out one of these forms,but felt compelled to write one on Jaymer-Que.

Just plain good

My barbecue taste is rooted in North Carolina, which means PORK. Jaymer, even though he is from Texas beef country, makes great pulled pork and if you ask for it, he will even put cole slaw on it (try it and you will never go back to just plain pork). The ribs are some of the best that I have had simply because they are not dripping in sauce like so many of the chains like to do. I always ask myself why someone would smoke BBQ for hours and then slop on some sauce and cover up the smoke flavor you were trying to create in the first place. Jaymer let's the smoke do the talking which is the way I like it.

I brought my wife, who really does not like BBQ and she fell in love with the chicken. Moist and full of flavor, again no sauce is needed.

Have not tried the brisket or the sausage so I cannot comment on them, nor did I spend much time tasting the sauces. Last important part of BBQ for me is the sweet tea, bad sweet tea can ruin a good meal and Jaymer has good sweet tea; I mean, really how hard can it be to add sugar to tea - but so many people cannot get it right.

• Pros: Just good BBQ the way it was meant to be; simple, good food made right
• Cons: Very small inside - limited seating and it gets crowded. Best bet is to sit on patio

Best BBQ in Tampa. Great Baby Back Ribs and Authentic Texas Brisket

Jaymer has got it going on.

Great Pulled Pork for a start. And authentic BBQ Texas brisket is hard to find in Florida. Dry rubs on everything. Ribs so tender and juicy they don't need sauce. Fridays they have HUGE dinosaur BBQ BEEF Ribs and baby back ribs that are always fresh off the pit - he will not serve a reheated baby back. But they always sell out of baby backs on Fri/Sat, so you probably wont get any if you're there too late.

Try 'The Jaymer' sampler platter and add Ribs, and you've still got at least 5 more things still to try on future visits.

I liked the homemade garlic mashed potatoes. Add some sweet sauce to them and its more yummy. They make a few sides in house, as opposed to just emptying a can into the steam table. Smoked Green Beans might be the best you've ever had. SPICY Pasta Salad has a nice kick. Collards are tasty.

Its a cozy place with nice owners.
