bo's is the best
by jerryrozier
i grew up 2 blocks from bo's and i know they are the best, i have raised 5 kids and they all look forward to going to bo's. they have things you will not find too many other places, like their upside banana split and blue raspberry dipped cones are my favorite. i have been going to bo's for over 40 years and as long as they are there i will continue.
Great Memories
by ridemtb2004
I worked at Bo's when I was in high school and still have very fond memories of the experience. I left and joined the army and have proudly served my country since. Every time I go home on leave I make it a point to go back to Bo's and get an ice cream. I even have my daughters asking me to take them to Bo's when we are in Tampa. After traveling across the world I have yet to find a better place to get Ice Cream then Bo's
- Pros: Great Value, Awesome Ice Cream, Down Home Atmosphere
- Cons: Lack of Seating, No Shelter

They have great ice cream for the $, but they need to work on their manners. Their attitudes suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
50 Years of Ice Cream!!
by denisebosanko
I met and married my husband at Bo's Ice Cream. His family has owned Bo's for 50 years this December. In those years generations of families have enjoyed the ice cream. The ice cream store is also a landmark for the Tampa area and is known all over the U.S. I have sampled every concoction I could dream up and I still love it, even after 13 years of it! 50 years is a long time to be making ice cream. Retirement is hopefully near for the family. Bo's is on the market for sale. Visit Bo's to help celebrate those very wonderful 50 years.
- Pros: Great Prices, Excellent Drive-Thru, Best Ice Cream
Almost 50 years later, this is still the drip-down-your-arm, eat-it-on-the-sidewalk soft-serve king.

The Scene
All of Tampa, when it gets its ice cream jones, can be found lining up in front of Bo's. Some folks are dressed to the nines at the end of a big date, some come in sweat-slick athletic jerseys and still others sidle over in their bedroom pj's. The guys behind the counter aren't always too swift, so you may find yourself striking up a conversation clarifying your order while enduring the dense fog of mosquitoes and no-see-ums.
The Food
There's no consensus on what's best. There are diehard fans of the upside down banana split (served in three sizes, from doable to truly unsettling): sliced banana, ice cream, hot fudge, pineapple topping, whipped cream, nuts, cherries, etc., all rammed deep into a styrofoam cup. Others swear by the thick shakes enveloping crushed Snickers, Oreos or other goodies. The purists sniff at both, insisting that a single dip of swirled vanilla and chocolate soft serve on a wafer cone is a sweet taste of heaven in Tampa.
