My coworkers in the office have been talking about this place for awhile now but i just hadn't gone yet. BIG MISTAKE!!! I can't believe i ever wasted my time at subway. Awesome Rueben and the Big Beast is crazy good.

Pros: Big sandwiches, good prices

Big Stein's deli is my favorite lunch/sandwich shop. I challenge anyone to find a bigger sandwich with more delicious meat. My favorite is the Park Avenue. YUM!!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with a healthy desire to fill up on great food. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY!

Being that I live and work very close to Big Stein's I have alway heard rumors regarding their horrible lack of customer service and respect. Therefore, while I know better than to eat there, I was recently forced to encounter the owner of this establishment and let me tell you...I would now rather dine on leftover scraps from a desperate dirt-eating Haitian before trying the "meat" that Big Stein's has to offer. Shudder. First of all let me say that the name "Big" Steins must stem from a serious Napoleon complex because the only thing BIG about this guy is his macho ism (which undoubtedly stems from a serious lack of manhood). When I say that I "encountered" him, I mean he attempted to rip my clothes off in a crowded bar with my husband standing 15 feet away. We were attending a James Bond party at a small pub downtown St. Pete and everyone came as various Bond characters with myself as Honey Rider (at the request of the girl who was throwing the party). Apparently, the concept of a costume party was too much for the small dark haired idiot owner of "Big Steins" to comprehend as he and a bunch of his friends entered the party (uninvited) and crept behind me while I tried to pay my tab. He unclasped the back of my top and when I turned around to confront him he grabbed me by the shoulder and tried to violently tear off the only thing keeping me from being completely exposed. Somehow I managed to wrestle myself free I ran to my husband and believe it or not, as I stood there in tears, telling him what happened one of Big Stein's (much bigger) buddies tried to lift up the back of my dress with his foot. Of course, this resulted in a bar brawl that ended with my husband on the ground being kicked repeatedly. Once everyone was brought outside, "Big Stein" stood in the middle of his buddies laughing and saying that of course he tried to strip me because -ready for this?- I DESERVED it for being too revealing. Big Stein's Deli is clearly full of Pig.

I tried "The Salad Salad" with chicken salad and balsamic vinagrette dressing - and I asked for no olives. Funny thing is, they added pasta salad on top which had OLIVES in it. And I swear the dressing had olives in it too. The chicken salad was very salty, very bad. The only positive was the romaine lettuce was nice and green - but inedible once I put the dressing on it. One more note, the pepsi fountain sode was all air, and when I brought it to their attention the guy behind the counter acted annoyed that I told them about it.

Pros: Fresh ingredients have potential if recipes are improved - too salty!

Cons: Menu does not list everything that comes with the salad

The triple decker sandwiches are the best. There is a small area for eating in but take it home - you won't be able to finish the whole sandwich any ways.
