Who needs cable? Just pull up a bar stool

My friends and I love Dunedin. We like nothing better than doing a Friday night pub crawl in downtown. Our last stop is always the Chic-a-Boom Room. They have great martinis, the outdoor patio is huge, and the patrons are always interesting. You never know who or what you will see there. Some nights it's 20 somethings, some nights its date night, some nights you see athletes and then drag queens! That's what makes Dunedin so unique.

I have always had great service. The food is excellent. They also have a new bar next door called Blur. We went over there on a Friday night, danced for ever! Good time, good music.

The only con I have really seen is that there are not enough girl bathrooms and you can only eat dinner in the restaurant. I could only get appetizers at the bar.

I would recommend this place.

• Pros: Good food, good drinks, good service, great people watching
• Cons: not enough bathrooms, Parking is tough on busy nights

Gay Friendly.... Bar Manager.. HOMOPHOBIC!!!!

Kelly's & Chic a Boom Room... kellys.. great for food.. chic a boom room .. great for drinks.. the bar manager.. I think his name is Nick. He is the rudest homophobic loser around. I don't get it! It makes NO SENSE! The owner, is gay but has a homophobic bar manager? My boyfriend and I were there sitting at the Bar outside.. we had 2 drinks.. my boy friend went to go to the bathroom and before he did that he kissed me on the lips as he was getting up. Well the homophobic bald bar manager came over to me and said ..." Try to restrict your self from anyform of PDA, or else I will have to ask you to leave". NEVER EVER going back there again. EVER!

good drinks poor bar tender

The bar tender was rude. We sat at the bar and drank,. The bar tender came over and picked up the glass that was clearly empty and looked inside, but never asked if we wanted another one.

Good afternoon beer stop

Just had a quick beer one afternoon and they seemed like we were the first to ever do that.? A chilled place to sit out back and enjoy the sunshine. I think it is a bit more happening in the evenings with an afterwork crowd and quite busy at weekends with locals and tourist alike.

Go for Ambience

I can't say that Kelly's has the best of anything when it comes to the food, but sometimes dining out isn't only about perfect cuisine. In this case, we return for the great outdoor seating area, and guests love this little representation of quirky Dunedin. The menu is easy to pick from, the service is always entertaining, and the prices are reasonable.

• Pros: great bar, al fresco dining & service
• Cons: food is mediocre, menu isn't terribly varied

Great Atmosphere

Although sometimes there is a wait due to their popularity, the food is worth it. The Grilled Brie sandwich is wonderful. Service is great. Ask to sit out back when the weather is cool.

Spectacular Food

Great tasting food in an artsy atmosphere. Very cool back patio that shares space with Kelly's Chic-a-Boom Room (not what some people think the name sounds like). You can get a wide variety of martini's from the Chic-a-boom room bar. After dinner you can stroll around old downtown Dunedin or walk down to the waterfront.

Great Fun!!!

The food is always fresh and the service is always a blast!!! The atmosphere is all most like being in your grandmothers kitchen. Lots of gadgets to admire!!! And you can't beat the prices!!!
