WOW

by amy1975

My parents used to frequent the Wine Cellar when I was Young, This is a place that been in business for many years and has maintained its good name. My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a fabulous meal. My steak was so tender and juicy, I did not even need a knife to cut it. My husband had a seafood platter that was just as good. Wow this is a wonderful place to eat for many occassions

  • Pros: Great food/Service
  • Cons: Not for the whole family

Overrated

We were not happy at all with the Wine Cellar, although it was recommended to us by the hotel. They have no meatless entrees, but did offer to remove the meat (for the same price of course). My friend's steak was very overcooked. The hostess seated us practically on top of another couple although it was apparent I would have to (and did) have difficulty maneuvering into the seat in such a small space (I am normal weight - this would have been a tight squeeze for anyone). She did not seem to care at all that this was uncomfortable not just for me but for the woman whom by back was touching through the entire meal. The waiter was pleasant, however, and the service was decent (18% gratuity is automatically added to your check, no matter how small the party). The food was mediocre at best, definitely not worth the price.

My favorite place to dine.

The Wine Cellar is the most beautiful restaurant. The ambience is unbeatable. Especially the lounge area. That is always the area we request when we make our reservations. The servers and bartenders are always very friendly and helpful. We also love "Z" the chef. This is where the birthdays and special days are spent. At least once or twice a month we must go.

A fun-loving, but mature, crowd patronizes this old-school restaurant, with its big, hearty meat dishes and dignified atmosphere.

In Short
It's orderly, it's quiet, with big tables of people even dressed in evening gowns. The formal crowd all order cocktails like it was still the '50s. The Beef Wellington, served with Yorkshire pudding, was excellent; it consisted of beef wrapped in pastry served with roasted veggies on the side. The dessert the "Marquis Solombo," a cream puff with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and crushed walnuts was marred by pastry that was soggy and too salty.

Wine Cellar review

by aquamarine

This used to be my favorite place, but my last experience there was awful. I had res. for 8pm, I wasn't seated until 8:30pm, at the time smoking was allowed, they put me in the smokey bar. My waiter showed up at 9:20 pm, my appetizer showed up at 10:15. I finally had to ask for my entres at 10:55. My husband's meal was ice cold. Then at 11:15 when I received my check, the waiter had the nerve to put his 15% on it. When I complained, I was told the computers went down. NO EXCUSE. For a resturant that has been around as long as the Wine Cellar, there were no computers back in the day. I was not offered ANY kind of comp or appoligy, the manager was quite rude. I paid my $85 for my dinner for two and NEVER returned.

  • Pros: great sauces
  • Cons: bad service

Great spot for a savory meal on an off n

by bilanony

We dined on Tuesday evening with a less than crowded dining room. We enjoyed the gracious service, banter and breathing room the staff provided. Given it's name we expected a sommalier however settled for an ordinary chardonnay. Starting with "Stuffed Mushroom Caps "Elizabeth"", the tasty "Marinated Greens Tossed with pine nuts & sun-dried cranberries". we paused with a Florida Tangelo Sorbet. Next we chose the filet mignon and half Maine Lobster which proved an excellent choice. The filtet was cooked to perfection and very tender. and the lobster absolutely succulent. A wide variety of roasted, well seasoned vegetables garnished an excellent presentation that led to several mmmmms. The room was somewhat table-crowded, smelled a little musty and although we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, it is easy to imagine how a hectic Friday night may dim your expectations.

  • Pros: great food, experienced staff, good music
  • Cons: too many tables, limited wines

Food was delicious. However, service was poor and they automatically add a 15% tip regardless of how many people are in your party. Nice atmosphere- good wine list. Very disappointed in the service.
