Horrible Experience
by Stormin Norman at Citysearch
What a terrible experience! My wife and I were prepared for the long (45 minute) wait, but had heard good things about Crabby Bills - obviously the one on St. Pete Beach was not the one getting good reviews. The service was terrible, our server disappeared once we got our drink order, returning only to hand us our bill. The fried platter with oysters, clam strips, shrimp and fish was both undercooked (oysters and clam strips) and overcooked, almost burnt (shrimp and fish). French fries were soggy, baked potato was disgusting; the only decent item was the cole slaw (probably purchased from outside vendor) and the beer. Would never go to this place again, don't be fooled by long lines, us tourists don't know any better!
Disappointed fish lover

This was the worst $100 I had ever spent on a meal. The only part of the meal that tasted different was the french fries. I had the pollock, scallops, shrimp and a crab cake meal which tasted like sawdust packed tight.
We waited for almost an hour and I am sure i must have been Crabby Bill on the door. Unreal!!
Awful and no flavor
by ms kumar at Citysearch
I was really disappointed by the food at Crabby Bill's because I heard good things about it. It was awful. It started with the crab and artichoke dip, the only flavor it had was sprinkled on with some kind of artificial flavoring that reminded me of the dry salad dressing mixes. I ordered the blackened tuna, rice and carrots - the tuna was completely without flavor and over cooked, the rice was the only good thing and I know that came out of a box. My daughter ordered the fried oysters - how are you going to screw up something fried???? There was no flavor in the seasoning. We waited an hour for this mess.
- Pros: location, service
- Cons: really bad no flavored food
worth the wait

If you enjoy good food at a fair price in a casual atmosphere you'll enjoy Crabby Bill's. In season, there will be a long line waiting to enter. However, the line moves quickly and the food is worth the wait. Seating is family style.
- Pros: fair prices, good food
- Cons: long lines
Sometimes you can't go home

Crabby Bill's has become a shell of itself. Serving bland, overcooked seafood is not how they built their reputation, but it's what has happened. Much better choices for seafood now, even on the beaches.
- Pros: Fun atmosphere
- Cons: The food
Worst restaurant EVER!!!
by PinkFloyd81 at Citysearch
Worst restaurant I have EVER ate at in my life. We had a 35 minute wait on a Wednesday night... After we were seated, we had to wait another 15 minutes for our server to show up to take our drink order. We ordered our dinners after that and the food took 30 minutes longer. To eat dinner was over 1 1/2 hours... Food portions were small and the food was cold when it arrived. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy! This place should be called CRAPPY BILLS!
- Pros: Try another restaurant ...
- Cons: Everything!

Like to retract the previous review - posted it to the wrong crabby bills entry - it should have refered to the entry for Crabby Bills on COURTNEY CAMPBELL CAUSEWAY - not the one on St Pete Beach.
- Pros: Decent view - good scenery for a young crowd on weekends (21-35)
- Cons: Atrocious service, lack of attention to detail, dirty and not-updated, laissez faire management
Great shrimp, salmon so so
by smiller560 at Citysearch
My wife ordered the fried shrimp and french fries. The shrimp were awesome. Cooked just right and not to much breading. The fries were cold and sent those back. My son ordered the sampler and he enjoyed it. I ordered the blackened salmon requesting light spice. The salmon was very spicy and there was a hair under the salmon. I sent it back. Requested just broiled salmon. It was okay dry and not much flavor. I would not order it again. Service was okay.
- Pros: shrimp
- Cons: salmon
A lot of crappy seafood
by joyakincaid at Citysearch
went here with my mom and sister, after going to island way the day before. For the same price you can get so much better food. But the service was nice.
It's loud and fun, with fresh seafood--plus, you might even get to meet some new friends.

The Scene
There's always a crowd at the St. Pete Beach location of this small local chain. There's a smallish bar up front, but the big dining room means the wait is never more than 15 minutes or so. The dining room is divided, with some tables mixed in with quite a few extra-long picnic tables (which you might share with another group). Go for early dinner and you'll also get a great view of the sunset.
The Food
Start off with an appetizer of Cleveland oysters, topped with parmesan and baked, then served on the half-shell. A side order of hush puppies does the trick for young kids (and those not crazy about seafood, who can have steak for an entree). The combo plate is a can't-miss pick, with fresh fish, shrimp and scallops. The grouper is also terrific, expecially blackened (but also available fried or grilled).
