I was a loyal guest of the Castaways for many years. As of 2004, the place has gone into a downward spiral and I'm not surprised the restaurant is now on dirty dining. Check it out on ABC Action News...Tampa, Fl. My last experience my server, Adele, was clueless. She took up to 10 minutes to come to my table and then ignored me the rest of evening, until the bill arrived. The food, the service, the price, the atmosphere, and the smell of the bathrooms just baffle me. Just stay away, from this restaurant.

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: Too many to list

Horrible food and service. I will never go back. My two year old would cook better than this. I guess i will just go to burger king the next time i want microwaved food!

I love to go out almost every Sunday for brunch all around Tampa Bay, this is by far my favorite! The views are the best, the variety of food amazing and it has the highest quality! With one of the best priced Brunch in all of Tampa Bay. They have made to order Pasta, Omelets, Banana's Foster, Cherries Jubilee, a huge chocolate fountain, Sushi, Seafood bar with all sorts of crab legs, mussels, shrimp, oysters and crawfish, and that's just the beginning. What ever your craving is I am sure they have it, if not just ask, most times I have gotten it. Oh yea, did I mention the Champagne and Mimosa's? So if you are looking to save a buck but still whant all the bells and whistles then check out Castaways.

Pros: Great Brunch, Great Food, Great views, Resonable Price

This had to be the worse restaurant I have ever been to. First it took thirty minutes to be greeted and than the server fogot are drinks until we recieved our very over cooked food. Everything was burnt and the mash potatoes were crusty and cold. If I want to eat reheats I would have stayed home and ate leftovers because that was exactly what this food tasted like. Two were good enough for me! My wife could not even cut her steak with ease it was so dry and overcooked. Thanks to the management I almost got in to a fight because he wanted to argue with me.

Pros: there are other restaurants around there to go too

Cons: no experiese anywhere

Made reservations a month in advance, talked to the event manager and made arrangements for fifty people before prom. Got to the restaurant at scheduled time and they said they had no record of our reservation. We had to eat fast food for our senior prom!! Would never recommend or go there again! Completely unacceptable for such a special night. :(

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: Everything.

The only reason I will ever go back to Castaways is because of Super Dan. He was the most informative waiter I have ever had in any restaurant. I am a 54 year old woman, and I eat out a lot. The food at Castaways is ok, but Super Dan completely made my entire experience there. If you should ever go to Castaways ask to sit in Super Dan's section, you will not receive any kind of better service ever. I went to Castaways a few other times, and had mediocre service. I strongly suggest this restaurant, but make sure to ask for Super Dan! He sure is super!

Pros: Super Dan

Cons: Not having Super Dan as your waiter.

The food was equsite. I ordered the Mahi with Chili Tie pepper and it was the best fish Ive ever had. Our server, appropriately named "super dan" was very knowledgable, friendly and efficient. customers in tables nearby were complaining so I guess they should sit at one of super dan's tables next time! my wife and I deffinitely reccomend this place over and over!

Pros: Service!

Cons: no valet for a tight parking lot

We drove by and decided to check it out just because; we liked the atmosphere and decided to get appetizers and a couple of drinks. However when asking for the check the young man wanted us to have lunch and we declined then the waiter went on about well one day we might be able to afford the place. We were planning o returning however we will never and I hope you don’t either

What a great view but I will never go back. It took our server thirty minutes for drinks another twenty to take our order and then I went on the deck to smoke and found out he was fishing. No tip for him! Then when we ordered everything we wanted they were out of. Finally when we got to eat my salmon was blacken not grilled and our mash potatoes were ice cold. The management gave us free dessert and it was stale. I asked to speak to the chef and all he had to say is that he is too busy to watch everything! Now what kind of chef is that!

I don't know what happened to this place but I will never go back!! I have always came in for there wonderful fresh fish but the last two times I went in the fish has not tasted right. My last time was April third and i ordered snapper and recieved grouper the server wanted to argue with me about it so a manager came to talk to me and told me I did not know what I was talking about and that I could take my business else where! I was completely upset and I am also a chef and have been cooking for almost thirty years now! Don't waste your time or money there its a rip off!!!!!

Pros: should have kept the young female chef from last year, I copied some of her recipes!

Cons: Fresh fish does not mean caught last week!
