HORRIBLE SERVICE, MANAGER IS A D I C K!. THIS PLACE SUX!!! AVOID AT AT ALL COSTS. Go to CARMELITA'S or to DON PABLO'S or to RED MESA or anywhere but this hell whole. They pretend to be hip but if you joke with any of these people in this restaurant they act like you are harrassing them. The whole place should just r o t in hell. The waitstaff can joke with you but God forbid you give it back - the d i c k h e a d manager will harrass YOU! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Let me say that again; AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE TYPHOID MARY OWNS AND MANAGES IT!!!! THIS RESTAURANT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!! Again, they can joke with you but God forbid you give it back to them - they are liable to call the police on you for cracking a joke. I'd rather starve than eat in this kind of c r a p hole place - the owner, manager, etc, could move to Siberaia and freeze to a bitter end and the world would be a better place. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! !!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!!! !!! !!!!! !!!!!
Fiery sauces, funky murals, and Tex-Mex with equal doses of undergraduate reverence and irreverence..
In Short
This Tex-Mex chain, started on the University of Florida campus, serves burritos in regular and hearty Tijuana size. Choose the stuffing: mildly-spiced ground beef, chicken, bean or a mix, wrapped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and sour cream. For a lighter meal, try blackened chicken quesadillas. Sides of salsa and a hot-sauce bar dispensers with concoctions like Chickens**t, a fire and mustard combo and Thai sweet chili also are offered.
great resturant anytime!!!. very good choice of a resturan at anytime! family, friends, parties great time for anything. exelent service!
You are on notice.
Attention Tijuana Flats: Here is what a real burrito should look like and consist of. It should have a soft, warm, and chewy flour torilla. It should contain rice, beans, salsa, and meats and should be on the wet side. It should be the size of your head and cost less than five bucks. It should be wrapped in aluminum foil and peeled down as one eats it. It should make you feel like you have had a "conversation with god" when you are finished eating it.
Your burritos did not pass on any of the following criteria. You are now on notice. The only reason you got a 3 was because the wait staff was cute and on that I commend you.
this is not mexican food. I dont know what the deal is with Florida but there is no real mexican food here. this is no exception. nasty food and bad service. they do have a million different types of hot sauce, that all tastes the same.
Depends on the KIDS in the kitchen. The one of the most important things to me in restaurants is consistency. Be consistently good or bad but be consistent! After several trip to TJ Flats and sometimes everyday for a week straight. All I can say is they need to stop worrying about where the next franchises is going to open and get someone in the back that is consistent. I am a Mexi junkie and the only reason they scored that high is there are not enough mexi places in town. Can you also tell whoever you have in the kitchen to rinse the utensils of between making orders. I do not like my chicken or beef taco or burrito tasting like FISH! Fish taco, hell no! This goes for all your store, especially the one in SRQ! It's better than Taco bell but by how much? Depends on the KIDS in the kitchen...
Great Place. Had a great experience, inside its the coolest and most creative restraunt I've seen around, its fun to just walk around and look at all the artwork/celb.s/murals and of course check out the hot bar. I eat there regularly and never a complaint. However some may not like it as it is more american-tex-mex style food. From covering your burrito in queso or salsa or any other sauce that you like. Either way you want it or what ever you want, the menu is huge and an outstanding "chill" place for 18-35 crowd. My average check for a lunch is under $7. Beat that for a meal that you can barely finish. However if your not a tex-mex style fan this is not the place for you. I would recommend it to anyone with spicy craving, or just a mellow lunch or dinner. If there's a line, you'll know why.
Pass it up, back to the drawing board. The food was cold, too much garlic (in Mexican food?). Tiny portions, high price, low quality - if this is desirable, this is the place for you!
