Best Cat Vet at reasonable prices – Carrollwood Cats changed vets several years ago and as a past and current client I can tell you it's like night and day. Dr Williams, Dr. Mango and all the staff truely adore the cats they care for and treat us kitty parents wonderfully.

My 16 year old cat had a tooth absess that burst so I took him to the emergency vet (it was a sunday) who did $500 in tests to tell us that he was also in renal failure. There was a good chance he wouldn't make it through the night but they would keep him for $1400 so we could take him our regular vet in the AM (who would most likely euthanize). We choose to take our cat home with us and prepared for losing him in the morning. The emergency vet had some very unkind words for us in her report due to our refusal of medical care.

When we saw Dr. Williams on Monday morning, she said she thought she could save him. They worked up an estimate for keeping him 3 days and doing dental surgery. In all, he was there 5 days and it cost less than the emergency vet would have for 1 night.

While my he was there Dr. Williams, Dr. Mango and the entire staff took such wonderful care of him. The vets called me twice a day, every day to give me update reports. My husband and I were encouraged to visit, any time, and we were taken in the back to see him. At 7.45am the back spotless and it smelled clean and disinfected. If anything from the estimate was going to change (like the extra day) the vet tech would call and explain why and the cost to me.

It's been three months since our scare and both vets have been very helpful when it comes to keeping the costs down while still giving my cat the best care possible. When we come in the office, all the techs remember my cat, his likes and dislikes, and they come out from the back to say hi to him (it really makes my day when they remember him and come up to get a head butt from him - he loves the techs and vets so much. I think my cat actually enjoys his visits to Carrollwood Cats. Yesterday, when we were trying to leave, he jumped out of the car walked around the grounds (they are beautiful). For a 16 year old cat with renal failure, that's a big change.

PROS: Caring vets, techs, really all the staff

CONS: None! If you read anything negative, check the date. Dr. Williams took over as the main vet and it's not the same place it was 3-4 years ago. Everything about CCH has gotten better!

Would never go anywhere else. – What a fantastic facility, we ended up adopting our kitty from VCA, unexpectantly-just went in for cat food and voila...another kitty. This special needs kitty was dropped off by someone to be euthanized. She was only a couple of weeks old & suffered from an upper resp. infection. Not only did they NOT euthanized, they treated/healed her at the clinics cost. While I was there other kitties were dropped off/kitties that were refused by other vet clicnics. What a caring facility. Our new kitty is fantastic, and we are enjoing her to the fullest. Kudos for this clinic and the services it provides. If the clinic charges a bit more than others, so be it--they treat so many animals in need, if I have to pay a couple of bucks more I will.

Good Experience! – The staff was very friendly and understanding ( I ended up being 30 min late ). Dr. Kelly Williams was much help. She treated my cats extremely well and took care of what needed to be done in a timely manner. I didn't feel forced to have any further treatment/ testing than necessary. She was also very personable and continued to ask me if I had any other questions. Overall, my experience was good and I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

What you gain in their reasonable cost is lack of kindness – I went here a few years ago. My cat had teeth problems and needed attention. Carrollwood cats was reasonably priced. I took her in and the vet was so incredibly nasty, I was in awe. Just mean and downright rude. I could see this reflected in the rest of the staff. While nobody was out and out as nasty as the main vet (stacy wadsworth i think is her name), you could see they were unhappy in their jobs. And why wouldn't they be? If Ms. Wadsworth treats her customers like that, imagine how she treats her staff?

On the positive side, they took good care of my cat and didn't try to price gauge me. Another vet in the bay area tried giving me a song and dance about how they needed to do this and that testing which would run over a thousand dollars. Carrollwood cats took care of my kitty for less than three hundred. I was impressed with that.

So...ask yourself, will I let a vet disrespect me but charge me a reasonable price to get my kitty all healthy? I would say yes. There are a lot of other vets out there who smile in your face and then dig deep in your pockets. Wadsworth can scream in my face as long as she takes good care of my sweet little kitty and doesn't charge me and arm and a leg for it.

At least CC isn't guilty of this.

not really great – You would expect specialist treatment given the name. We took our cat there with a bowel movement problem (I am apparently not allowed to name the medical term for liquid excretions on this site), and they prescribed 4 unrelated medications without looking for the cause. Basically, they preferred to cover all the bases by using a de-wormer (but there was really little chance of worms; these are healthy indoor cats), an antibiotic, an antispasmatic, and something else (can't recall now). We lost confidence in the treatment because it was so "canned," when we expected specialist care.

Affordable and friendly – I had to bring one of my cats in with an emergency. Unfortunately my cat had to be euthanized. It was very difficult and Dr. Wadworth and staff were very compassionate. The estimate of charges was given ahead of time with an explanation of charges at my request. Dr. Wadsworth then worked with me to cut some of the charges down and start with one test at a time before making a decision of the more costly tests. The tests done to confirm Leukemia and the euthanization was affordable compared to my experience with other vets in my area. I have since brought in my other two cats for check-ups and to be checked for the illness, they were clear, and vaccine against the illness and found the experience equally as comforting and affordable. The staff on both occassions was courteous and knowledgeable. Although the circumstances were unfavorable with our initial sick cat, I am glad to have discovered Carrollwood cats and will consider them our family vet from here on out. I'm not sure the standards of some of the people who posted complaints but know through my own experiences with vets that there are some horrible ones out there that treat you and your pet like dirt, charge you an arm and a leg for sub-par treatment and then expect you to thank them for the bad treatment. This is not one of those places.

Knowledgeable, but pricey – As a multi-cat mom, I highly recommend Stacey Wadsworth as a vet. Not only is she knowledgeable (attending seminars to keep up with the latest treatments and breakthroughs in cat care), but is well-known throughout the Tampa area by animal advocates whom she has helped with their strays, etc.

Stacey's personality is stoic at times and at other times friendly and warm. This does not bother me in the least because I know my cats are getting the best care available in the area. I suspect and am hoping that she and her husband, Dr. James Ray DVM at Livingston Animal Hospital, may confer about their patients after hours. After all, two heads are better than one.

Dr. Kelly Williams, DVM is also in practice at Carrollwood Cats. She is personalble and knowledgeable, a recent graduate of University of Florida. I highly recommend her also.

don't expect good bedside manner – Dr. Wadsworth seems to lack an empathy chip. She dispatched the vet care with competance but is intolerant of proactive pet owners and prefers to call the shots. My cat was very ill and Dr. Wadsworth refused to treat some of my cat's problems because she was just going to die anyway! When I requested that they try to help her with those problems she became petulant and began giving me the silent treatment when I went in to visit my hospitalized cat. I will never go back again - strangely I had not had any problems until I had a sick cat. When just giving vaccinations and basic routine vet care there were no problems. But any vet can handle those things....the important thing is how they handle the pet and owner in a crisis.

Best Care in Tampa for a cat – I've been a client for over 15 years of De. Stacie and have observed nothing but very professional care and concern for each and everyone of my 4 cats...The staff is very friendly and professional, they will make you and your pet feel right at home. Do not understand why some people find just the opposite.

Incompetent – Not recommended. I was there recently one Friday morning and the entire staff was exrtemely rude and childish. Leaving my pet there made me really uncomfortable knowing that nearly all the techs are practically kids who look like their still in highschool. Two "techs" came in the room to discuss some things with me and when I had questions it was like they had no idea what I was talking about nor did it sound like they had any idea what THEY were talking about. Non of it made sense and it was really unsettling knowing that this was supposedly a place of care. When I asked to speak to the Dr.Wadsworth, she acted as if i was wasting her time. When I was ready to check out, they then dispenced the wrong medication to me and didnt even seem bothered by their error. Unfortunaetly I have heard good things about the other Doctor never bring my cat back to this place.
