They have a special dolphin there named Winter. Get inspired by our marine environment and learn.
educational afternoon. Not Seaworld by any measure, but a nice hour or two looking at the sea animals. Volunteers are dedicated and kind. It's all for a good cause and I try to overlook the minor shortcomings based on the fact that it is a rescue place first. Plus the work with Winter is amazing.
not for children under 6.
We took my 3 year old there, thinking it would be a great experience. The shows all started late (try keeping a 3 year old occupied), the trainers spent more time talking than showing the animals, and there was NO control over the school groups that were visiting.
My Daughter had a great seat for the Dolphin show and ended up being trampled by the unsupervised school group that came in. Because the trainer took so much time talking and not giving a Dolphin show, we just left. It wasn't worth the hassle.
If you like a lot of talk and not a lot of show - go here.
VERY DISAPPOINTING!
This is our 3rd visit here in 3 years, it was never this bad before.
Thrust an arm into a tank of stingrays and starfish or get in over your head and snorkel with scientists studying sea creatures..
The Scene
The aquarium combines entertaining looks at loggerhead sea turtles, sharks and river otters with on-the-water excursions to make marine biology fun. Meet residents like Sunset Sam, a paintbrush-wielding bottle-nosed dolphin, who came here crippled and can't survive in the wild. Other creatures recovering from injuries and illness remain here until healthy.
Need to Know
Outdoor options include twice-a-day Sea Life Safaris that put you on board with a biologist to net marine specimens for fascinating looks. The cost--$13.95 for adults and $9 for ages 3 to 12--covers aquarium admission plus the cruise. Half-day kayak trips, custom-designed outings and four-day water-oriented adventures create interesting encounters with local wildlife. You could even be part of an actual animal rescue operation. Adventure outings start at $35 per person; most require reservations.
