DON'T EAT THE FISH!.
My girlfriend and I ate at Gallagher's on 6/10/10 because we had a gift card. The waiter recommended the amberjack as being fresh. Well, we are both still sick with scombroid fish poisoning and it's been almost 2 weeks!
The Manager didn't really care. Hopefully he will take it off my charge card! I called the Health Dept. and they were quite interested and are investigating.
I will never eat there again!

We had the good fortune to dine at Gallagher’s Steakhouse in Channelside, Tampa FL. To all of you who gave this restaurant a bad review did not eat in the same place that we did. We came in through the bar side and were immediately greeted by staff, who walked us to the restaurant desk. We were immediately shown to a wonderful window seat (which we had requested). The decor was somewhat old “Steak house” with lots of wood but light and airy was the tone. Our wait staff person Kristen came right over to welcome us. We had a Groupon Coupon (bought on line at a large discount), which she took immediately. When one uses a coupon you somehow expect bad service (thanks to all of you out there that do not tip on the total check) this did not happen. We were treated like first class citizens every step of the way. She warned us that they would be getting extremely busy in the next half an hour and to avoid our order being processed with the large parties expected she would take our order now and have it prepared before the rush. She went on to answer questions that we had and explained that the side dishes were large enough to share.
The drinks were brought promptly as was the delectable lobster bisque, being a tea drinker I especially appreciated the high quality tea served, it came in a pot and the pot was filled up several times. We tried their signature steak and the fillet mignon which were superb. The large asparagus were cooked to perfection and the Gallagher’s potatoes were amazing. Coffee was served in a two + cup carafe, the deserts were presented on a tray and the key lime pie was a fitting end to a wonderful dinner.
Was it expensive, not more than what we have paid in other large cities would we go back “in a heart beat”, would we request Kristen as our server “you bet”.
Gallagher’s you have my vote (and yes we did tip on the full amount of the bill).
Worst Restaurant Ever!.
They screwed up our order multiple times. We were served food more than an hour after we ordered; tables seated after us had finished their meals.
A drunk guy was shouting and hooting at the top of his lungs intermittently for 20 minutes and the staff did nothing.
The washrooms were filthy and the only hand towels were strewn about the floor
Incredible steaks and outstanding staff.
This was truly a steak that melted in my mouth. That with the garlicky mac and cheese made for an absolute outstanding meal.
The staff was very attentive and we never wanted for anything.
I will be back in a heartbeat!
Does not measure-up to the name..
Restaurant is on the second level at Channel Side, so take the elevator. We arrived at 5PM and were seated promptly. The wait staff was obliging and knowledgeable. We were wearing dark clothes and they swapped our white napkins for black [nice touch]. The salads we had were inferior: Lettuce wedge with OK dressing and the Caesar salad was with stale bits of Romaine lettuce with a mediocre dressing. The Crab Cake appetizer was good, the Calamari was excellent and had a side of Italian style tomato sauce. Lobster Bisque with Lump Crab full of lobster flavor. The Sirloin steak was full of meaty flavor but tough. The prime rib was a better choice but not as flavorful. The Salmon was cooked as ordered and was excellent. Entrees arrive unaccompanied, all sides are at an additional charge. It was an acceptable dinner under the circumstances, but nothing like dinners I had in at their restaurant in NYC.
There is paid self park or paid valet (if you valet, they stamp your stub for a nominal discount.) You could also drive in the surrounding are and try to find a free spot (if you are the adventurous type.) Price for this meal was comparable with the top named steakhouses in Tampa [I still have a few left to complete my rounds] Last is the most bothersome, to me anyway. I checked their menu on line before heading out and when I perused the menu, the prices all had escalated by $4 to $6. OK we can write that off to lag in the ?website-up-date-the-menu-prices? routine. Just thought I mention that.
Not worth it. With all the choices we have in the Tampa Bay area for a good steak, there is no need to waste your time on Gallager's. Their signature salad, Gallager's Wedge, was a joke. Expect a wedge of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dessing.. that's it. I ordered the filet, medium-rare; I was served the filet medium-well done. And I wasn't the only one it happened to in my party. I do not plan to go back.
