Hotel is nice-eat and drink somewhere else!

We stayed there for a weekend and loved our room. Every room has a balcony, which was fantastic. Its right on the water so we had the choice of going to the gulf or to the pool to relax. It was in a good location for water activities, but there isn't much else to do in the area.
We went down to the restaurant on the beach for lunch one afternoon. The food here was actually pretty good. I got the Turkey and Smoked Gouda sandwich. It was amazing. But my bloody mary was TERRIBLE! I think the bartender just mixed vodka and tomato juice together and charged me $6.50 for it. (Well vodka. 12 oz plastic cup) Suzie was her name. I asked her if she could make it spicy for me, maybe toss in a piece of celery and she huffed like it was a huge inconvenience to her. So we decided to drink elsewhere for the rest of our stay.
(There is a hole in the wall bar behind the liquor store directly across the street that was fantastic. Decent prices and a local hangout. We found our favorite places by talking to the people here)
On our last night at the Grand Plaza we decided to go to Spinners, which is on top of the hotel. Named so because it revolves. That was pretty cool. During our time there we went entirely around the track. Good view of the gulf and St. Petersburg. I recommend going just before sunset, but then again we waited about 20 minutes for a table for two. They don't do reservations. Our server was great. A guy named Chad, he cracked us both up the whole time. Our food took forever because they cart everything up on one elevator! My steak was barely warm when I got it, but I wasn't about to wait another 40 minutes for a steak. It was pretty pricey for what the food was. I guess you really pay for the view.
All around I'd give the hotel itself a 4, Spinners a 3 and the beach bar a 2.

Wonderful time at Grand Plaza

My wife and I spent a short vacation on St. Pete Beach, and stayed at the Grand Plaza. We enjoyed our stay there. The room was clean and current, and had a nice tile floor. We had a balcony facing Guld Blvd. The weather was so nice, we turned off the A/C and opened the door to the balcony.
Room service was unbelievable. I ordered a sandwich for lunch, and it was at my door within 10 minutes. The same with breakfast on one day.
We are definitely going back to Grand Plaza next year. Hopefully, we will save up enough money to get a gulf view balcony.

Best hotel for the price

Our stay here was enjoyable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and fairly clean. I would stay here again and reccommend for the price as it was the cheapest rooms on the beach that was available during season. Everything you could want was within walking distance!
- Pros: Friendly helpful staff, clean nice rooms with lots of room to move. flat screen tv
- Cons: Hard to get in and out of the drive onto the road
