The staff stole or lost our credit card! STAY AWAY!.
I'm taking the time to warn people away from this establishment. On occasion my wife’s office, reserves the entire downstairs bar. The bartender took my wife’s credit card to hold our tab. When it came time to get our card and pay out, they acted as if we never gave them our card. This is despite the fact we had three people sitting out the bar who all witnessed the jackass of a bartender take the card. We were met with complete lack of concern on the part of the bartender and the waitress. They both kept telling us to search our pockets and my wife’s purse, which we did but of course since they had the card we did not find it. The bartender was rude, sarcastic and made no attempt to hide the fact that he neither believed nor cared our claim that he had taken the card. I worked the restaurant business for 17 years, so I can understand making mistakes but to be treated they way we were by this moron was completely inexcusable.
Is this really how Ceviche’s Restaurant believes their business should be conducted? Do they normally handle customer complaints, right or wrong, with open hostility and a complete lack of responsibility? After tonight, I would feel safer handing my credit card to a stranger on the street.
On the slippery slope to vile.
I keep going back here because i like the atmosphere. The inside produces a din so loud that it's a great place to take people you don't want to talk to. I generally i sit on the porch. I went the other night for the first time in months and realized that I can't forgive the consistently bad food anymore. We had 4 dishes that ranged from inedible to average. The salmon was so salty it got sent back for being inedible. Before they took it i noticed it was also dry and the leek sauce tasteless. The best offering was a selection of a variety of grilled, overcooked meat on skewers.
Think overdone. Everything's mushy, saucy, and laden with cheese. If there's cheese there's a pound of cheese (like melted on the portobello stuffed with spinach). If there's no cheese, there's sauce. Lots of gooey flavorless sauce in a variety of colors. They even put enough oil in the fresh spinach to cause on the spot arterial blockage. Sorry...this place has great promise, great atmosphere, a great wine and beer selection and I'm dying to like it. But if you go, eat beforehand.
Food is great. If you are worried about slow service don't go to Ceviches, it's usually busy, and certainly not a place to be in a hurry. Sometimes its annoying to have to wait for a drink, but the food is fantastic!! Go on a quieter night, and sit for an hour or two, this is not fast food. I have been many times, had patchy service, but the food is always worth the wait.
Rudeness at it's finest!. My husband & I had been looking forward to eating at Ceviche's for months. When we finally had a reason to travel the hour down to St. Petersburg for an art opening we decided to also have dinner at Ceviches. We arrived about 7 minutes prior to them opening. Unfortunately we didn't realize they weren't open yet & ran through the pouring rain where we were greeted with a locked gate. The wait staff saw us as well as another lone woman hopping around hoping to get in out of the rain. Guess what - they didn't respond even though they saw us. Finally someone came out, laughing at us & when we asked if they could let us in - at least to get out of the rain - he said no. We promptly left & will never return. Snobbery at it's finest - are they that great that they can afford to treat their customers this way?
Worst experience for a special night. Made reservations two weeks in advance for a large party on the patio. Upon arriving, discovered that the staff put our party of 14 at a table for 8 in a back corner. After 5 minutes of standing around the much to small table, we were reseated in the desired location from the reservation. After waiting for 10 minutes, a waiter came over to tell us that there was a VIP group that had reservations for this table. After addressing our concerns to the wait staff and the manager, we were treated so poorly that we chose to leave rather than have dinner at a place where we were treated like 2nd class citizens. I can safely say I won't be going back for a 2nd chance at this restaurant.
" A MUST TRY".
Ceviche Tapas restaurant and bar is really great! I enjoyed the large varieties of the tapas menu that's offered and enjoyed the fact that the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. They have an marvelous Sangria! At the time of dining they were very busy and needed more help. That caused a promblem when we needed refills, ours checks, plus we needed assistance when receiving an dish that was over truly over cooked! The management staff did take care of the issue!
After dinner , we went down stairs to Ceviche's bar where there's an dance floor with a bar. It's a place where you can dine and dance the night away with elegance plus a touch of casual warmth!
I recommend this spot to anyone who hasn't tried Spanish cuisine and one want something different ("great spot").
