BT is now at 2507 South MacDill Avenue.
Restaurant BT was one of the many restaurants to leave Hye Park Village in recent months.
The new, more intimate, smaller place on South MacDill might resolve some of the problems with service. The main issue now is parking for the best spots are across the street.
One thing hasn't changed: the extensive and daring menu. When a dinner menu has peking duck pancakes and crab & eggplant napoleon as staters, you know this is not a traditional pan-Asian restaurant.
There is duck, slamon, and lobster on the dinner menu as well as that kiiller of a Vietnamese bouillebaisse.
BT serves lunch and offers an interesting Saturday Brunch. I haven't visited the Brunch, but the sake Bloody Mary sounds different.
Hopefully BT's many fans will locate the new spot.
Great Healthy Food. I think the overall experience was great. I am not a fan of lemongrass, but with so many options for healthy and delicious eating- my palate was not disappointed. I have had many great meals here- and will continue to frequent BT.
Worst Service - EVER.
My husband surprised me with dinner at BT's for Valentine's Day. It was a total disappointment! First, I am appealed at how bad the service was for $100/person - I receive better service at the local chain restaurants. Our server didn't even know what an item was on the LIMITED v-day menu. There were only so many choices; she should have know about every single item in detail for the price we paid. I thought it was just our server, but another server came out with the wrong plates and she also wasn't familiar with the dishes on the menu. My husband and I then heard the tables around us experiencing the same types of problems with the service and another couple I know had a similar evening. The food was good, but definitely not worth the price either. The atmosphere is nice and very modern.
Overall, I will never go back to this place and I would never recommend it to my family or friends because it is way overpriced and the service was just about the worst I have ever had.
The worst in customer service and not such great food. I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. After sitting in a corner for 20 minutes before even getting a drink, we moved to the bar. The food was awful but I thought I had complained enough for one evening. I ended up writing a letter to the owner of the restaurant sighting it's imperfections and also complimenting them on their good qualities. I received a letter back from the owner stating that "The next time you desire a dish that is very "fishy tasting", I highly recommend Mrs. Paul's fish sticks. They are sold at many grocery stores in the Tampa Bay area." All I can say is the professionalism matched the service and food.
Disappointed travelers from PA.... We're from Philadelphia, PA and had high expectations, however the service was mediocre and the food was overpriced. The waitress did not ask us if our dinner was okay at any point during dinner and also, the "bao thi canh" entree was not appetizing. It was a big, clump of raw meat slapped onto the plate. We've had raw filet mignon before and it wasn't presented in this manner. Also, I ordered the duck in orange sauce that was completely overcooked=overpriced!!! A dinner for two with drinks totaled $105.00 plus tip. Unfortuntely, we did not have a pleasant dining experience... that's all folks.
