I've been a customer of Scott's (the owner and sole barber) for several years now. I got tired of going to chain places and getting a new doofus to do a poor job of cutting my hair each time. Scott does an outstanding job, every time, at almost the same cost. His secret is attention to detail. You are not just a haircut when you are in his chair, you are a valued customer, and he makes sure you know it. Scott also does full-service shaves, complete with hot towel and a straight-razor. He works with you to make sure you get the type of shave you want and that you remain comfortable throughout the process. I would recommend Scott to anyone. Go ahead, get a shave!

Pros: Attention to detail, personal service, quality work

You walk into SE Mattis Barber Shop and you instantly take a step back in time...the vintage barber chair, the antique cash register, the old theater seats pulled from the original Ybor Cinema...but the true vintage experience isn't captured by the furniture or nick-knacks, it's captured by the level of quality and service that Scotty (the owner and sole barber) demonstrates with every haircut. Simply stated, he operates his shop with pride and has a true passion for the trade that he's devoted himself to...something we tend to see less and less of in today's society. Throw in a stogie (his shop is actually located inside a cigar shop - King Corona's) and a straight-blade shave (soothed over with a little Bay Rum aftershave) and you'll walk out of his shop feeling like a million bucks...and it'll cost ya less than 20 greenbacks (15 for the cut and 5 for the shave). If you're looking for a solid haircut, a good conversation, and a taste of what a true barber shop is meant to be...then you'll love this place!

Pros: Solid haircut, good conversation, and great atmosphere!

Cons: Not one.
