Tips for Gargasz, Bret M, Dds - Gargasz Dental

Wouldn't recommend..worst dentist I have seen in 50 years..treated his staff like doormats in front of his customers..Started a conversation with me explaining his girlfriend had just left him and his partner screwed him over..Then informed me I needed a root canal on a tooth which had nothing more than a cavity that I had filled by a good dentist who was puzzeled to hear I was under the impression I needed a root canal..I actually saw this joke 3 times..I have never had a dentist hurt me more..he made no effort to do anything but hurt me..He lied to me and tried to get me to get a root canal I didnt even need...stay away from this man..He has some serious personal issues as well as a severe lack of compassion for his patients

Since my first visit in Jan 2012 and 2 of the teeth Gargasz said had cavities (found out they didn't) after he *fixed* them I now need my first 2 root canals. During my visit and I said it still hurt and felt like a nerve he was hitting. He said I am no where near the nerve....

AWESOME DENTIST. Dr. Gargasz has been my family dentist for the past 4 years and he has provided us with the best service possible. He has not only been a wonderful Dentist but also a wonderful friend. He has an extensive working knowledge of care concern for all of our dental needs. If you are searching for quality care search no more and visit one of his two location, the Downtown or the Riverview Office.

For those of you who feel the need to leave negative comments or complaints I am sorry you had this experience. When we have issues with our mouth that require constant and continually care it is important that we keep up with the care so we can receive quality positive results. Some dental work requires more than just one visit.

Thank you Dr. Gargasz for being an honest and up front Dentist

Still dealing with pain and suffering!. I NEVER GIVE REVIEWS....but for others I give warning because I made the mistake of seeing Gargasz 5 years ago and I am still suffering from what he did to my teeth. Right after he worked on them I had to have a 2 root canals on which one of the teeth had a crown that fell off practically when the Endo started to work! I was advised by my previous dentist (in another city) to seek legal counsel. Just today I had a crown placed to correct a filling by Gargasz because it was so crappy I had infection and a huge cavity under it!! My mouth hurts bad and I still have 2 crowns to go! It is not supposed to be like this!!!! :-(

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS DENTIST. I could tell something was wrong the minute I walked in just by the attitude of the staff. After a painful X-Ray procedure, I was told that I had 8 cavities and that the cost of the fillings along with the cleaning would be $1,800 under their "treatment plan." After going to a different & more reputable dentist a week later, I found out that I only had 2 cavities and the cost of filling along with cleaning came to 1/4 the amount versus Dr. Gargsz' office in Riverview. I am 100% sure there is some very unethical behavior going on at this so-called "practice" and possibly even criminal.

WORST mistake. **I found out he is moving out of state. I wish I knew where I would warn all the people**

**Edited to add** YOu can make a formal complaint about him.

It's 2 weeks today and I still cannot chew anything that is not soft food. I have a bruise on the left side of my face that showed up a day after my visit. I had to take Motrin 800 for a week after then I just decided to deal with the pain.

The dentist himself was nice at first. He soon showed he was cocky. Then he was loud and screaming at his staff for someone to turn on the music or change the CD. He talked a lot when he should have been doing his job. I had 3 cavities to be fixed. But the lady forgot to write down 3 more teeth that needed to be fixed. They adjusted the price to add the other teeth. He and his assistant whispered to each other (over me) about another staff member which was very unprofessional. The lady who was going over my chart which showed what needed to be done is the one who gave me the topical and she told me to hold them in place. After a few minutes the Dentist came in to inject me and he did the roof of my mouth which is the worst place and the topical was never put there. He did the injections fast and it was VERY painful. He would stop working on my mouth periodically to go look at another patient. The assistant even gave me magazines to look at. I am thinking where in the heck is he going? He was right in the middle of working on me. Then 3 times of that and 4 hours later, 3 injections each side (he tried painful spot 3 times before giving me more to numb it (gotta love that), he couldn't floss between them . He had to redrill the filling he just put in there, still couldn't floss and tried 2 other tools to clear up was was blocking the floss. Finally after he could get floss through all teeth and the cotton was soaked with blood I was in pain (what I could feel at the time) and I was done. MY mouth was so raw and swollen. They had to do another set of xrays and the lady who answered the phone is who did the xrays . She couldn’t find what she needed to do them. Then she messed up the xrays and had to do them over. My mouth was bleeding, raw and numbness wearing off I had to bite down on these hard plastic things not once but twice each side. I wanted to run out of there screaming. Today (next day) my mouth still hurts and I am having a hard time chewing my food. I could understand if it was a root cancel but this wasn't.

gargassz screamed at me!. Saw Grgassz’s ad in early Dec 2011 TBTcom stating “free exam free XRays & free cleaning or free extraction” . Made 1pm appt, but couple days later called to reconfirm. Told they don’t make appts for free event, first come, first served. Arrived 7:45am on 12/15, 30 folks outside, 15 folks inside. Figured like me w/o insurance need free dental care. Didn’t even think anyone was homeless/indigent, I’m not. I’m retired Sr. citizen, not quite ready for Medicare, not homeless. Have all my teeth (but 1) & brush/floss daily, no insurance so free event welcomed. Went to front counter & was asked “cleaning or extraction”. I said cleaning. They seemed confused about papers, sign-in sheets, & where people were signing in. Some girl wandered around with papers in hand, flirting with some tall guy–appeared she was trying to find more forms, or get copier to work, find paper, whatever, but she wandered around with apparently no goal in mind. Someone else told me to sign a sheet for cleaning. Spaces were numbered & shoulda been coordinated w/ numbered med history papers, but someone else signed at my space. She said don’t worry you’ll be called by number on paper (so why sign numbered sheet then?). 10:45am, my number called & I was brought to small room & Raouf took about 6-8 XRays, proceeded to stick a sharp instrument btwn my teeth/gums. When he poked too far down, I winced, said “ow”, and he would said “yes”. Poke/ow/ yes, poke/ow/ yes – several times. I asked him where he was from, he said Egypt.I tried talking w/him briefly but someone came in & chastised him for talking to me (implying “shut up and just do your job” attitude). He then proceeded to rapidly clean/polish teeth. Whole process w/ him (XRays/poking/cleaning/polishing) took about 10 minutes tops so I thought it was not the best cleaning I’ve ever had as I still felt some spots that might have been missed. I then expected a disc w/dentist after review of XRays telling me if he did find any cavities. Normally, exam also has the dr/hygienist confirming the depth/width of gum pockets (usually #s as 1,2,3,4,5 etc.) that dentist discusses w/you. This DID NOT HAPPEN EITHER! Raouf pushed a $99 teeth whitening & I succumbed & said ok make me an appt for Jan 2012 (figured I could find the money since it was not too expensive). Then was sent back out into hallway area practically bumping into the big tall guy. I said I’d like to get a copy of the XRays & he said it would cost $25. I said ok that’s acceptable. Then I said now where do I go for exam? He immediately got very intensely agitated w/me & shouted at me saying I was spoiling it for everyone! HUH!?? I said I don’t know what you mean, I showed him ad stating “free exam, etc.”. He grabbed it out of my hands, threw it away. I said “that is my paper & I want it back.”. He fished it out of the trash, jammed it at me, continued shouting at me, screaming at me that I was making it bad for everyone now. I was astonished but calm & said I don’t know what you mean, the ad says free exam. He screamed at me that if I wanted XRays would now be $100! I called him a dxxkhxxd jerk as I was leaving- was my only display of anger,I don’t normally say/type stuff like that). I was handed a sheet asking “please write something nice!” listing 3 websites. ARE THEY KIDDING!!?? Never saw such a horrible display of unprofessionalism in my life. I don’t recommend this dentist (or incompetent staff) to anyone. Several ads later in TBT indicated either free extractions or cleaning so apparently he changed the ad afterward. Obviously I cancelled teeth whitening appt. Because of my limited income, I took advantage of free dental care in past (last was Nov 2010 w/XRays/cleaning/exam/disc as expected w/actual qualified dentist!), & have NEVER been treated as horribly as this so-called dentist did. Wonder what his grad rank was, probably last in class. Do not go to this obnoxious jerk! (Had to pay $12 for parking, which kinda sucked too!)

A DENTIST WHO CARES ABOUT THE LESS FORTUNATE. In this bad economy, where the less fortunate are often overlooked, up steps Dr. Bret Gargasz to the plate. He took a day out of his normal schedule to offer "FREE" dental care to the indigent people of Tampa. As one of those people, I was was greeted by a wonderful staff who treated me with dignity and was very professional in their work. After the doctor examined me, he went on to extract the bad teeth. He took his time and did the job right; The first time. Although a number of people were still waiting in line for his services, I can see that his aim was to make sure that each person that left his office was happy. Again, I thank Dr. Bret Gargas for what he's done for me; And I Will recommend his services to all my friends and co-workers. Sincerely, William Priddy

ok visit---seemed money hungry though. the office was dirty in every corner. i stared at the dirt in the corners and got a bit grossed out. the girl working on me kept doing the x rays wrong and the tech nearby kept whispering to her that she messed them up. my mouth got poked so many times from the mouth bite for the x rays that i got a bit irrated.but when it came time for the cleaning she did ok.

the doctor then came in and examined me. he was nice and all but seemed like he was beating around the bush about the x rays and focused on me paying for teeth whitening and getting crowns put in and a bridge and a root canal and all this mess and all i asked was "do i have any cavities".

so i then go to the front and wait for about 20 minutes for them to see what my insurance would and would not cover. after they gave me the invoice for what i "should get" the bill after insurance was just over $3000.00, even the girl handing me the invoice had her own eyes popped out when she saw what the amount was. the staff doesnt seem knowledgable about billing and the printer even. this could have been a better visit. i felt that it wasnt the best. dentist was nice, but sounded more of a salesman to me.

hope this helps

As much fun as you can have at the dentist!. My husband and I are very pleased with Dr. Gargasz and his staff. They were extremely friendly, punctual and able to squeeze me in at the last minute.

The work I had done, a bridge, came out perfect. My first temporary bridge cracked on the first night, but they scheduled me on a Saturday and fixed it. The permanent bridge feels great and looks fine.

Dr. Gargasz is funny, (How may I hurt you today?), entertaining and extremely personable. He plays great music and does fantastic work. The office was clean and the staff was charming.

What more could I ask for? See you in six months!
