Sadly the food was not so good. Nice looking place, so I took my girl who grew up in New Orleans there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. To start with the tables were all dirty and there were only 2 tables with customers at them. She wiped the table after delivering the coffee. We never received the waters we asked for. We spent like 47 dollars trying lots of items because we wanted all of it. The expensive roast beef po-boys were dry. Those are supposed to be dripping with gravy, running down the elbows like in the big easy. Fun place to stop by and see for coffee only.

Home Away From Home. I love NOLA Cafe & News Stand! Cafe au lait and beignets without the sticky, powdered sugar coated tables. Great small menu of New Orleans favorites and Old Meeting House ice cream! Great place for morning coffee (Community!), lunch or an inexpensive dinner. Open mic night on Friday, no liquor license, but you can BYOB. Too bad it's hidden behind the Walgreen's on Hyde Park Ave.

A taste of home. I'm originally from New Orleans, and although I love Tampa, I really miss the food you can only find at home. Thank God for NOLA cafe! I've been a customer since their opening days and have never been disappointed. Whether its my morning cafe au lait, turtle soup for lunch or beignets for a fun snack, the food is always excellent because its just like home. The service is always great as well. I think its unfortunate that their marketing efforts havent been greater because I feel like NOLA is my lil secret - most of my friends hadn't heard about it until I brought them there. So my advice - go there and try it yourself and SPREAD THE WORD, because I dont know what I'd do without NOLA cafe!
