great food, reasonable price. I was a little worried when we walked in and it was cafeteria style but no need to worry - the food is great. It was a sunny spring day and we ate our food on the sidewalk seating. The lunch serving of jerk chicken, rice with beans and cabbage was huge, I can't imagine what the dinner serving is like. My boyfriend likes his food on the hot side and they were happy to give him a habanero pepper to add to his meal. Jerk Hut is walking distance to the convention center so if you are in town for a conference be sure to check it out.

Jerk Hut Gives Downtown A Touch of the Caribbean.
Jerk Hut has a number of places in North Tampa near the University, but the colorful downtown frontage adds a nice bit of spice to the huge amount of pizza parlors and sandwich shops that dot the district. Other than Thai, Tampa appears to visitors to just offer Latin foods on the international platter.
Cafeteria style does not mean low quality. A jerk chicken dinner includes rice with beans and cabbage. All the favorites are here, and sometimes curry goat appears on the menu.
It may be small, but it has class.
