Not many would dispute the museum's own claim that it's the only comprehensive art museum on Florida's west coast.. The Scene
The museum features 20 galleries, with 15 showing permanent collections. The museum boasts a beautiful sculpture garden and hosts classical music concerts, usually by soloists and small ensembles, every Sunday in July and August, and sporadically throughout the rest of the year.

The Collection
The permanent collection ranges from tribal and pre-Columbian art to Steuben glass and works by the European masters, including a decent selection of Impressionist works. The other five galleries house traveling exhibits that run about six to eight weeks. Past shows introduced Matisse prints as well as contemporary American and Chinese glass art. The Museum also hosts many retrospectives of their own collection, pulling works out of the archives for exhibits like Big Art and Spotlight on the Photography Collection.
