Tampa >Food & Dining > Water
Water was better than I expected but a bit pricy for what you get. The waitress was very friendly. While I sat looking around after placing my order I thought I had made a mistake. The restaurant is a hole in the wall. It's what I would consider a dump. They tried but the fabric panels on the ceiling with teh ceiling fans with straw blades just don't cut it. Who thought that would look good? The tables look like a Zebra Print. It's just bizarre. I thought about just getting up and leaving because the sushi menu is really limited and expensive. Ex: two pieces of Tuna are $5.50. Yikes! Also is is pretty dark in the restaurant so it's hard to see what you're eating. What? Is that a hair in your food? You'll never se it so it's ok. :) Anyway, to my surprise the sushi was really good. I would make it a point to go back the next time I am in Tampa.
Great Sushi!!. My husband and I LOVE this place. The wait staff is so friendly and the sushi is great! I eat there at least once a week and it is always good. You can also order the sushi from Ciccio & Toni's next door which is a family friendly place. We have gone to Water with our daughter but only when it first opens. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Freshest Fish In Town... Sat next to Jeff Garcia. Consistently the freshest Yellow Tail in town. Jeff Garcia and His beautiful wife sat right next to us. Its cozy and cool w/ great music and hot waitresses. Eat here weekly... never disappoints.
Unique is not always a good thing.
I've had the misfortune of going to Water twice, and trying a myriad of their menu items. Let me just say, this emphasis on 'unique' must be their downfall.
Simply put, there are scores of better sushi options in the area, so definitely skip this one.
The most perplexing part is the other restaurants owned by these people (Ciccio & Tony's, Daily Eats, Lime) are all very good. Ciccio & Tony's is a personal favorite, in fact (and right next door). But when it comes to sushi and good food, Water fails miserably.
Horrible!!. I have to say, my sister and I are from the West Coast and wanted a good sushi night. All we got was dish full of disasppointment. Don't be fooled by "under $20" because it's way too pricy for the so called sushi. The Tuna Tar Tar was disgusting and warm and the "green tea" was a lipton tea bag!! HORRIBLE! Maybe Seattle and Los Angeles has spoiled us with good sushi but this was the worst $70 we spent. I guess there's a problem when you walk in and there is barely anyone in there and not a single Asian working there.
I love Water!. Water is my favorite restaurant in Tampa! The Tuna Bowl is the best! I moved to Atlanta and miss having my weekly visit to Water.
Truly unique.... I am from California and used to eat sushi anywhere from 3-5 times each week. My best friend, also from Nor-Cal, came to visit, and we ate sushi here. It was much smaller than I expected, yet cozy. The sushi was, truly unique, definitely not what I expected or am used to. If you are craving serious sushi, I might now recommend this spot, but hey, it just might be your cup of tea...
Not your traditional sushi store. They have a lot of neo sushi rolls going on. I tried their Spicy Diablo and Lobster Bombs. Diablo is superb while Lobster Bombs is only ok. The mango aioli is tasteless. The service is great as I was dining by myself and the waitress kept me company. Pricewise, it's around $10 per roll but its portion is a lot smaller than what I have in Los Angeles. The only parking available is valet parking so I had to park some distance away and walk to the restaurant, no big deal.
Great Restaurant. I was visiting from out of town, and wasn't sure about dining alone. I was made to feel very comfortable. the best thing about this place is the decor. Very hip! the menu was a bit extensive, so the waitron gladly explained it to me and made a few recommendations. I was really pleased I chose this place. I would HIGHLY recommend it!
Great sushi!. The sushi at Water is very unique. They have sashimi and more traditional rolls for sure, but the more unique rolls of the restaurant are what to order. I've never had bad service here before ! Yes, the servers rotate throughout the evening and the person who brings drinks might not be the person who brings the sushi. And, it is sushi so you will have to be pacient while it's prepared (sushi is not fast food). The decor is trendy, funky, and fun. I highly recommend the Spicy Mexican Roll, the Hoang Roll, and the Diablo Roll. (all delicious) My fiance and I eat here at least twice a month !!
