Skip the scalp massage. When I saw Scalp Massage on my Queen for a Day menu, I thought, "How interesting!" Now that I've experienced it, I can officially say, "How awful!!!." You lay back on a massage table and, ON DRY HAIR, your scalp masseuse drips about a bottle worth of aromatherapy all over your head. I never noticed how annoying the sound of dry hair being rubbed sounded. The scalp masseuse then told me to sit in the steam room for a bit so the oils could titillate my scalp. It took three shampoos to get the oil of my hair and the steam room didnt help matters at all. Normally, you come home from the spa looking relaxed and renewed... all I can say was that it was pretty embarrassing walking through the resort and handing the valet my ticket, while I looked like a grease ball.

Just far enough from Tampa to feel secluded.. The Scene
The emphasis here is on activity--biking, hiking and swimming and most importantly, golf and tennis. The resort draws business clientele for meetings, retreats and incentive programs, as well as families who want to enjoy both leisure and dining on-site. Four restaurants, a spacious spa and a Sports Village with a fitness center and regulation-size basketball court make for lots of choices. The property's newest restaurant is Dempsey's Steak House.

The Details
Accommodations are roomy and well-kept. The bathrooms are large and suites come with full kitchens. The two 18-hole golf courses were designed by Arnold Palmer. Forty-five tennis courts include five lighted for night play. The 82,000 square feet of meeting space can accommodate groups from 10 to 2,000. Although just 35 minutes from Tampa International Airport, the 480-acre grounds are home to a variety of Florida wildlife. Don't be surprised to see a local critter wandering the fairways.
