I recently moved from Texas and my antique lamp must have gotten broke in the move. I called up Gail's Emporium and I was told they could fix it in a day. I was so excited !! I took my lamp to the shop and the owner actually came to my car to carry the lamp in for me (you won't find that level of customer service at any box or chain store). He carefully explained what was wrong with it, and gave me an itemized estimate of the charge, which I consider very reasonable. I will definitely refer them to friends and continue to use them myself.
A suprise Find!. I have a winter home in Tarpon Springs and one of my favorite lamps had been damaged on my way down in the van. One of my neighbors suggested I try Gails in Tarpon, and to my amazement, they had the EXACT lampshade that had been damaged. The staff was very helpful, and the store is filled with other accessories - much better than a box store's or WalMart's choices!
Most unpleasant shopping experience ever. Sadly, my experience with this store resembles those of the other reviewers. There need to be negative stars for this kind of merchant -- rude, nasty, and slow to deliver. I have a feeling her prices are high too, but that would be the least of my concerns if I had received decent customer service. My 89 year old mother had a lampshade on back-order, and when it was delayed past the promised date, was told that they could not tell her when it would come in. When it finally arrived, over a month later, and she went to pick it up, they practically threw her out the door with the shade and a screamed volley of insults. I have never heard anything like it. Don't even think about shopping here.
DO NOT USE THIS STORE--IT IS A MINUS 10 STARS.
We have shopped in many countries and never had such an unpleasant experience. The owner insults the customers, talks negatively behind their back or says they are stupid, etc., when they leave. She even told one customer she was stupid to her face. If you want to pay a lot of money to be insulted and badly treated, go to Gail's Lampshade Emporium which has now moved to 413 S Pinellas Ave In Tarpon.
We cannot rate this store because negative stars are not an available.
Don't go to Gail, buy a new lamp. You'll be much happier. We spent over $700 and she never said thank you and insulted us in the process.
Terrible Business People - One Star is too kind..
The worst experience I have ever had!
My wife didn't beleive me until she read the previous reviews.
The "4" letter words that these elder people used was extremely unprofessional.
My wife sent me there to pick up our lamp which was left there to be fitted with a shade. No phone calls back, no response what-so-ever in any way for "4" days. Then I go in to pick up the lamp and they abuse me verbally! These people should not be in business.
SAVE YOURSELF A TRIP AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Bad Experience All Around. There is nothing in this store that you cannot find elsewhere, cheaper, better quality, cleaner. The owner is a overbearing old lady who is verbally extremely nasty. She is pushy and unprofessional. Her behavior borders on unstable.
I won't go back. My experience with Gail's Lampshade Emporium was down right shocking. I have never felt so abused and degraded as I did when attempting to conduct business with the owner of the establishment.
