We thoroughly enjoyed.
Out for a dinner and dancing evening, we wanted something light. My date, an English lady who loves curry but likes it hot, remembered having been here 3 or 4 years earlier and being disappointed to find her Chicken Vindoolay too bland ('as for the American palette" she surmised). But not this time!
She specified that the curry taste hot and so did I--for my shrimp. We were both delighted. We'd already had theTomato Rassum soup and loved its spicy tastiness! We'll be back!
DELICIOUS "AUTHENTIC" INDIAN CUSINE.
The restaurant is not the best looking place it?s attached to the Ramada Hotel..
However, I guarantee you are in for a surprise?
The food is some of the best Indian food I have eaten.
I ordered the Onion Nan & Curry Chicken Malasa. I can summarize the meal in two words ?Simply Delicious?? The sauce was full of flavor & the cardamom added an exotic twist. The chicken was extremely moist, uncharacteristic to many Indian restaurants where the meat has a tendency to be somewhat dry. The chef said it is Goan style of cooking he explained how the cooking process works & when to add each component to create the fullest flavor. All I know is, it was extremely well executed dishes. "
Once you get past the DATED look of the dining area "THE MEAL WILL BL0W YOU AWAY !!!!"
Best delicious indian food in bay area.. Simply awesome. Keep up the good work folks. You guys have been outstanding. Really really awesome food I have had after a long period of time away from home. Give it a try guys, you will love it !!!!
Best Indian food. The food and the service were great! This is only the third time I have had Indian food and it was great. I had a chicken curry dish (#32 on the menu) and it was wonderful. The dish was flavored with garlic, ginger and Indian spices! Our server came several times to ensure we were pleased. The area surrounding the Ramada Inn was fine, but I was leary because of some of the other reviews. We found the restaurant great and will return. We will definitely return on the next trip to the Tampa Airport!!
Great food. We have tried a few of the Indian restaurants locally, but this is the one we keep going back to. The chicken tikka masalla is to die for as are the naan breads. They have a good selection of beers, including Indian, though the appetizer section is a bit sparse. We have never had a problem with service and the food has always been great.
Best Bet in the Bay Area. My wife and I have been to all the Indian restaurants in St.Pete and Tampa (about 7 or 8). If you are looking for good (North) Indian food in the bay area, this is your best bet. Its not the best Indian food, but its best in this area. I usually get their Butter Chicken or Chicken Tikka. I've also tried their lamb and Malai Kofta which is good as well. There are other restaurants that look better than this one, but as far as the food is concerned, Ajanta wins. The service is not bad, but gets worse if they are busy. The Restaurant is also a little hard to find. They are located inside the Ramada Inn. So there aren't an clearly visible signs outside that you can look for. They are fairly priced, and certainly priced lower than the better looking restaurants. Their Sunday buffet is quite good. This has become our go to restaurant if we are in the mood for Indian food.
Great hidden treasure a the Ramada Inn.
By far some of the best service I've had in the Tampa Bay. Great Selection of Indian Beers resonably priced.
Delicious samosas- the peas in them were great. the entrees (chicken curry and chicken masala) was perfect and served in a traditional bowl heated by a small candle. Great environment, great food and great people.
Definately should seek this place out if you like Indian food.

Great place for Indian food. I'm Indian so know what Indian food should be like, this is a great place for a curry or two. The service was quick, prompt and polite. The only problem was it was a bit hard to find, other than that I highly recommend it!
Very Average.... This is the only Indian place in town that is open on Sundays that we know of, so if you're craving Indian on a Sunday - it's at least good for that. They sat us at the only dirty table in the place. It took 10 minutes to get drinks(water!) and then they informed us that they were out of vegetable samosas. Couldn't they have told us what they were out of when we were seated? The appetizer we did order was cold when we got it and wasn't very good cold. The entrees were average - almost bland. There is an Indian place downtown near Baywalk that is MUCH better but pricier. I must admit that the price is right at this place but we still prefer the place by Baywalk, though.
Excellent food!!!. This is a great Indian restaurant! I am new to the area and went to this restaurant having no idea what to expect, and it was terrific! They have a big selection of vegetarian items, friendly people working there, a nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices. *It's hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for, though. You should look for the RAMADA (yes, the hotel), because Ajanta's is located inside there. I'll definitely go back there, because I love Indian food, and good food is hard to find! :)
