Tonight the driver had no money for tolls so he stopped in the median at the offramp to memorial drive. Literally in the middle of the highway as cars pass by so that I can get toll money out of my bag in the trunk. That and they give customers a hassle about using credit cards. I've used them 3 times and was hassled twice. Two weeks ago a driver, after asking me if it was cash or credit, got off the Veterans so he could take me to an ATM. When I complained that he was taking a longer route he said "I thought you needed to get cash so I'm getting off to go to the nearest Bank." Trust me you don't want to use these clowns.
Call for services, say 20 to 25 min is
there, after time, call back again to comfirm, they put wrong address, they say wait for another cab and would be there in 20 min or less, I say ok.
Pass 30min nothing, call back just to cancel, wait to long
I haven't actually taken United Cab but at my place of business ill call a cab for a customer when needed on 2 separate occasions i called a cab for a customer and united told them they'd be there in 20-30 min and then never showed one of my customers actually waited over 2 hours before calling his hotels shuttle to pick him up. So I knew they were no good but today i was in my apt complex pulling out of my spot to leave my complex is very small and barely has enough room for 2 cars to pass . I was almost completely pulled out when united cab pulled in and floored it to try and fly around me I had to slam on my breaks to stop him from hitting me. Right after i called united to make a complaint only for the RUDE operator to tell my even if i was almost completely pulled out that their cab had the right of way. as i complained further she said well talk to him and hung up on me
I called for a taxi last night and within 10 min had a text message letting me know my taxi was outside! Nice!
I got ROBBED by a United Cab Co taxi driver!!!.
I'm a college student on a budget. I went home this past weekend to help my mother with a torn MCL and ACL in her left knee and my father who's been losing the battle with glaucoma for years and recently lost his vision entirely.
Believe it or not, the Greyhound bus ride was uneventful, and actually a pleasant experience.
However after I got out of the station at 1:20 am, I found someone else was heading north to the campus area. He volunteered to pay his bit and I'd pay the rest of the way (generous of him, I thought). The driver we had was a tall, overweight guy with messed up teeth and a thick Spanish accent. After almost getting pulled over by cops for speeding TWICE on I-275 (now I wish they'd caught him) we reach the other passenger's destination in a REALLY sketchy area.
Like he said he would, he pays the fare so far, but the driver refused to restart the fare meter so I told him never mind. I've been living in Tampa for 3 years now, and my first instinct was to grab my stuff and get away from this dude. He came after me and said if I kept walking away he would call the cops on me. Standing in Crackheadville, I call the cab company to ask what their policy was on this issue and the lady sounded like she was busy doing something else, I think eating. She told me I would need to negotiate with the driver and she hung up. He took the $25 out of my hand and drove off, in spite of my asking for his card.
Now with no cash, I had to walk from Sketchytown to a Bank of America 2 miles away to go take out more cash to call ANOTHER cab. I get a Yellow Cab to take me home, and he tells me this kind of dishonesty is what United is known for. The man, named John, then gave me a ride home free of charge.
I will never call a United Cab again, and they better believe I am going to explain this experience to everyone I know who calls cabs home on weekend nights. On the other hand, Yellow Cab (813-253-0121) was extremely friendly, quick, safe, and sympathetic to my dilemma. I know who I'll call next time
guess only mad people write reviews. i caught a cab out of my meeting in downtown tampa. i told the driver i wanted to go some where to have a drink where there would be a little bit of action around. he recomended hyde park. a nieghborhood with lots of bars and resturants in tampa. so off we went i ended up in a place called mc,dentions everything went well. later that night i grabbed another cab to my hotel in riverview the hilton garden the driver didnt speak much english but we got there just the same. he dropped me off and then i relized i had forgotten my i phone. i then tried to call the cab company. the only thing i rememberd was i was in a united cab and that the driver didnt speak much english. i spoke with the operater jenny she told me that they have had atleast 6 other people who had lost there phones in a cab that night. she connected me to the dispatcher bobby. he informed me that since i didnt call a cab that i just grabbed one from the street it would take alittle work to find out what cab i left it in. he asked for the phone number of the phone and a discription. so i was sure i would never see it again. i told him that i needed to fly out in the morning and that i would need a cab about 5 am. so he set up the trip for me at that time and got all my info said he would let me know if he found it. well i had to get some sleep. so when i got up to get ready to go i called the cab company they connected me back to bobby he informed me they had found my phone and a driver was alreaady in route to get me to take me to the airport and that the driver had my phone. i didnt know what to say i was so pleased. i asked if i could send him some money he said no thanks just take care of the driver. im very surprised by the reviews i have read here. all i can say is im very pleased and that company is very lucky to have such a caring dispatcher
Horrible Experience!. Horrible experience! I never write reviews but I had too this time! The driver picked me up on time and got me to my destination on time no problem, but when it came time to pay he scammed me. I paid the cab driver 20.00 which was the cab fair and then I asked him if he had any change, because I had another twenty that I wanted to break so I could give him a tip..so he took my first 20.00 which was the cab fair put it in his pocket gets out change and then tells me that I never gave him the 20.00 for the cab fair and that the other 20 dollars in my hand was the cab fair and we argued back and forth and I told him no I just gave you the other 20.00 I had for the cab fair, this 20.00 dollars is what I wanted to break so I could give you a tip, and he told me that I never paid him!!! I didn't have time to argue with him any longer, as I had to catch a flight and it was embarrassing and making a scene in front of the airport. After he left I called the cab company and they said that he called them right after he left (go figure he wanted to cover his butt!) and told them I was trying to get out of paying..not the truth at all! Overall they said that there was nothing they could do and it was supposed to be setteled right then and there..yea I am a 100 pound girl and a 200 pound guy is arguing with me that I didn't pay him, how was I supposed to settle that! Overall horrible experience...the man robbed me and his company stood behind him and I am sure he will do it again to someone because its his word against the customers and he knows that and he knows just what to do, call his company and complain that the customer didn't want to pay and the company can't do anything about it, because again its his word against the customers and I guess they don't really care how there customers are being treated! Beware and be careful if you use this company...they don't care about there customers.
WORST CAB COMPANY EVER!!! RUN BY MORONS!!. I have used this cab company today for the very last time. I made a special request when I called to have a van cab come and pick up my lady and I as I needed to get my 55 gallon aquarium home. I was told that this would take a little longer than the typical car cab which was find as I needed it. Shortly thereafter, a REGULAR car cab NOT the van I had requested showed up. I told the driver I needed a van and he said he would tell the dispatch people. 30 minutes later I called back to find out the status, and the woman on the other end gave me nasty attitude about it. I called back in another 30 minutes and was given the same nasty attitude by the same woman. I then began calling other cab companies which apparently was a mistake because they all seemed to be using the same dispatch service. In short, I waited a total of THREE HOURS before I finally got pissed and told them just to send a regular cab. The dispatch lady told me that all of their vans had several bookings back to back which my driver(when I got one) told me was a load of stinking horse defecation . He said they had plenty of vans available but no one wanted to come and get us. I have never encountered such incompetence and a poorly run business in my entire life. I would rate this zero stars if I could but apparently I have to rate at least one. Even one star is more than these idiots deserve.
Horrible experiences. I have had countless incidents with this cab company. The latest one is one of the worst ever. Last night I used this cab to get a ride home from the airport. When I paid for the fare using a swipe of my credit card on their machine, the approval was sent and an authorization code provided. However, the driver claims that he needed to also imprint my card with my signature since the printer was not working. I did not feel comfortable with this since the charge was already approved and I check my account from my phone and saw the charge on my card. He said this is policy and called his company. The woman on the line informed me this was policy and upon telling her I was not comfortable and what other alternative could we investigate such as calling the card company or taking down my contact information but not my card imprint. She quickly responded she could call the cops if I liked that alternative. She said this is company policy and it is the law (I work for a Bank in the back office so I know good and well this is not the law - for all I know this could have been his girl friend with some scam to sell credit card numbers). BTW, I call the head of drivers and dispatch the next morning to find out this was not at all policy and all the driver needed to do is write down the auth code and a description that the printer was not working. He stated this is clearly posted for all drivers to see. This is only one of countless stories I can provide you on shaddy drivers of united cab - DO NOT USE THEM!!!

I am not one to go online and write reviews but I had such a horrible experience with United Cab I felt as if writing a review online was very necessary!
Saturday night we jumped in a United Taxi to catch a ride across town, about a 25 minute drive. The driver was such an awful driver I had to ask for a bag to throw up in bc I was so car sick. I then get home and run inside to get more cash. Meanwhile my friend grabbed all of our stuff out of the cab. I then paid the driver and walked inside. As soon as we shut the door I realized she didnt have my cell phone and she thought I had taken it into the house already. We immediately called the company to try to get a hold of the driver. This went on for 30 minutes that night and for two days following the incident. NO ONE was helpful. I was finally directed to Paul, in the HR department, who told me he would call the driver and try to locate the phone. An hour later I called to check on the situation and he basically told me he hadnt even called the cab driver and that he had more important things to do than to call around trying to find my cell phone I left in the cab. I was livid and asked to speak to someone above him about the matter. He then yelled over to a woman named Diana and asked her for her extension so I could talk to her. Shes clearly sitting right there and heard the whole conversation and had no problem with the way she was talking to me.
I then left for work and asked my mom to please call her and deal with it all. Diana then gave my mom the same lecture about "having more important things to do". When my mom asked who the owner of the company was Diana got very angry and told me mom she didnt know and that if she didnt it wouldnt be her business to tell my mother. I could not believe a company like this even existed.
Lets just say it took my father going down to Cass St. to sit there while they called the cab driver and located my phone.
I will NEVER again use this company!!!!!
