Great Atmosphere, Food Just OK. We used to LOVE this place a few years back. Their pork tacos were the best. However, they stopped using the most delicious sauce on them and started serving it "dry". Now all their food is just OK. Nothing special. However, if you have a couple of hours (service is slooowww), it's a charming place to sit back, relax and enjoy the weather. Service is VERY poor. The last time we were there (11/16), I had to go to the bar to get our server while she sat there with a friend talking! I wish the owners were there more often. That might make a difference.

The fried green tomatoes are very good. Everything else that I have ever had is only fair to good.. We have eaten at the Whistle Stop three or four times and each time the service was very poor. This time (Tuesday evening) was only about 1/4 to capacity. We waited over an hour for a steak and grilled fish. The waitress was very unattentive and would not have gotten a tip had she not put 18% on the ticket prior to presenting it to us. She overcharged us by $3.00 on one entree but had we complained, we would have been there another 30 minutes. My wife was furious and just wanted to get out of there. As good as the fried green tomatoes are, I will NEVER eat at this restaurant. I plan of bringing this to the attention of the manager, but I doubt if they will care. Avoid the Whistle Stop or have a min. of 2 hours for a meal.

Perfect outdoor restaurant?friendly, familiar fare. I have eaten at the Whistle Stop dozens of times and can honestly say I've never been disappointed. The food is consistently good, and the service is fast and friendly. You can order and take out or eat in their porch-like setting. Menu includes great salad options, familiar favorites, and specialties like fried green tomato sandwiches. Both smoking and nonsmoking seating.

go 'round back and EAT first!. Ice cream great, but don't forget to go 'round back and eat first! We first found this place bcs of its appearance- so charming, so family freindly! But we followed the LIVE MUSIC around back to an even more charming outside only seating area with a full menu (YUM! such variety!!). Its crowed so the service is average, but never bad, and yet the wait is short. The bands are there all weeekend so its loud, but its a great little "hole in the wall" with good food, great soft serve, and awesome atmosphere! Drive or walk over with your dog!!

Great Ice Cream. This place has delicious ice cream and food is good. But if you're looking for comfy, this is not the place, has only outdoor seating.
