The Scene
You may have trouble finding Costas, since it's hidden among a warren of shops and restaurants along a winding back street of tiny Tarpon Springs, which still looks like the Greek fishing village it once was. But do persevere, because once you step inside, you'll be glad you're there: Tidy, comfy, so homey. The waitresses smile and chat. The locals dine beside the tourists. It's so relaxed and pleasant, you want to hang out all night.

The Food
It's all homemade; anything Greek you might like is good.

What to Order
My favorite dish is moussaka, a delectable concoction featuring eggplant as the star ingredient, but the stuffed grape leaves were delicious, too. For those of you who might not have eaten much Greek food, order the Greek platter, which comes with three specialties: Moussaka, pastitsio and stuffed grape leaves, accompanied by a big pile of flavored rice. Please leave room for dessert, which is a gooey baklava-thin pastry, honey and nuts sandwiched together. Or, the rice pudding is great for kids.

My family and I go down to the sponge docks every year and we found our favorite new restaurant. This restaurant isnt on the main strip, but dont be fooled, because it is definatly the best one around. When walking in, the owner immediately greeted us and was so friendly to my kids. The quality of the place was beautiful and the staff was so kind, but the most important was the food. The souvlakis were great, but definatly do try some of the authentic greek dishes, they were amazing... It makes me want to book a trip to greece... Anyway, this is our new familys hot spot for when we visit. Great Place !!!!

Had visited Tarpon Springs a few times and ate at a bunch of the greek restaurants, but the last visit i had made there, we had discovered Costas Restaurant. This place had such a beautiful ambiance that i felt the other restaurants lacked on the strip. And the food felt like i had sat down at my greek gradmothers table for dinner. Being a greek myself, i tend to take greek food personal, and i felt that this restaurant by far beat all the others in the area. My family and I LOVED this restaurant so much and cant wait to go back, not only was the food delicious, the staff was so kind and even the owner came to our table and was so polite to ask us how everything was and was so friendly... It was such a great place, So definatly go see for yourself ...

I have tried almost every restaurant at the Sponge Docks and Costas is my favorite. Everything is homemade and the portions are huge. We had the calamari which melted in our mouths and the lamb which was very tender. The atmosphere is very friendly and our server Niki gave us outstanding service. I found Costas by asking a local who said that he only eats there - now I know why.
