The lesser-acclaimed sister course to Pine Barrens has an identity all its own..
Doing the Loop
Rolling Oaks is a splendid contrast with its heavier soil and lush, sturdy vegetation. The parkland-style layout, patterned after courses in the Northeast, is equally scenic, but less dramatic than Pine Barrens in its changes of elevation and terrain.
Signature Hole
Among the many memorable holes is No. 8, probably the prettiest par-three in the Tampa Bay area. From an elevated perch with tee boxes terraced into the side of a hill, players take aim over a flooded sinkhole lined with rocks. The deep green is protected by water to the left (players climb the rocks over a running stream to access the green) and sand to the right. Any shot landing safely on the green is a welcome result.
