There's the daily Sunsets at Pier 60 festival, where vendors hawk everything from handmade necklaces, to three dimensional paintings, to sand dollar sculptures. The Sunset Music Series happens in the shaded pavilion on the beach right next to Pier 60, and features local jazz, blues and rock musicians. During the rest of the day, virtual battalions of children take over the Pier 60 playground, a maze of jungle gyms, swings and giant tic-tac-toe games that are surrounded by foam boards to cushion their raucous play. Stop by Pier 60 concessions for refreshments, their most unusual offer being the space-age ice cream that comes in little spheres. Walk down to the end of the pier for mere pocket change, or rent poles and bait and spend the day fishing.…
