The Scene – Stow away on the "Pirate's Ransom" and join a rowdy crew of swashbucklers for two adventurous hours along the coast of Clearwater Beach. The free booze (champagne on evening cruises) helps loosen the inhibitions, especially when it's time for face-painting, role-playing games with the kids--after all, someone's gotta play Pegleg the Pirate--and dancing. – – The Appeal – The itinerary calls for fun as the colorfully attired crew (Jumpin' Jason, Swashbucklin' Stephanie, etc.) distributes free beer, wine, soft drinks and weapons for water-gun fights. This is now a tradition

For the past six years Captain Memo's pirate ship cruise has been a tradition for my family. Every other year the kids come to Florida with us and would be disappointed if we didn't go. They have fun every time and they are now 14, 11 and 8. The staff is so friendly, one of the 'pirates' even let my teenage daughter listen to his Ipod when he notices that she was sitting and listening to music...then she joined in the fun. (Teenagers, what can you do?) When we come to Florida without the kids we STILL make sure we go on the Capt. Memo cruise. Free beer and wine while you take a two hour cruise with good music and fun going on all around you...who wouldn't enjoy that. You can spend more money sitting at a bar for two hours and have a lot less fun. They really cater to everyone on this cruise and I would recommend it to anyone! (kids or no kids)
- Pros: Fun games for kids, facepainting, free sodas, music and danc
- Cons: I only wish it was longer
Pleasantly Surprised!!!

As a newlywed couple, my husband and I did not know if the pirate ship had anything to offer us. However, we were pleasantly surprised! We chose a sunset/champagne cruise for what felt like the shortest, but most fun-filled, two hours! The pirate ship has SO much to offer to people of all ages. We were able to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the Gulf Of Mexico on the ship's third deck (away from the children). Then, we chose to go back to the main deck for the pirate dance party. The pirates were friendly and helpful and made sure that we never went thirsty! These pirates have thought it all out! From souvenirs to the snack bar, they have it all! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone - anytime!!
- Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful setting, good music
- Cons: I wasn't ready for the fun to end!!
VERY DISSAPOINTED!!
by kytuba
We went on the 10 am cruise Saturday, Sept 2, 2006 and were VERY DISSAPOINTED! The description, both on the website and the brochure, states that the ship would be cruising on the Gulf of Mexico along the Clearwater Beach shore. We didn't even get out of the bay!! We never went past the Sand Key point. The sails were never lowered! We saw NO dolphins! I felt really RIPPED OFF! We didn't pay almost 70.00 total to cruise around the bay! The little kids loved it, but it is DEFINITELY NOT for adults!
- Pros: Neat ship, nice crew, free soda
- Cons: Never left the bay, never lowered the sails, never saw a single dolphin.
