Very bad place to go

by WhisperingEyes at Citysearch

I went there around 3 weeks ago, rented a hotel room close by so I would not have to drive.

I was there with my friend and my daughter only 20 minutes when the manager John came up to my table and told me I had to put my shoes on, in a very, very rude tone. I told him my feet were hurting and I was just going to have them off for a few. He got very angry and I asked if I could put on my flip flops, he said yes but I had to wear the shoes out the bar, came back with the flip flops and when he saw them he grabbed me by my right hand, torn a chunk of meat out of my hand and said "You are out of here". When my friend went to ask what was going on he was thrown out and then my daughter.

I own a business and my customers always come first. I cannot believe a nightclub would do that to someone who was not even drinking. My friend and daughter were drinking but I was just sitting at the table after dancing one song because of my heels.

I highly suggest that if you want to be treated like a human being do not go to this place.

  • Pros: nothing
  • Cons: manager that has no people skills

A long-timer's view of New York New York

by niteowl3321 at Citysearch

New York New York is a tradition. A long-running night club - I used to go there years and years ago when it was Daddy's Money. The music is always good, the dance floor usually filled with people having fun. Certain nights are good for certain age groups - which makes it a fun place for EVERYONE - not just prowling 25 year olds. Monday night karaoke nights are slow - but have a family kind of atmosphere and the KJ has been there forever. Although she doesn't let people sing hard rock or rap - she still has a pretty good show. The bands later in the week always bring in crowds. The annual parties at NYNY are fun -- sometimes even with open bar!!!! All of the bartenders have been there long enough to remember your name AND your drink - and they pour a good one there!!

The kitchen is old - but puts out some really good food at decent prices. You can get a huge amount of food for two at a price you would pay for one anywhere else. Try the ribs - I did - and they're good. Also like that layer dip thing when I'm not looking for a complete dinner. I feel safe at New York New York - since they have bouncers and very responsive management when anyone gets out of line. I've seen problems stopped within seconds and people out the door before you even know what's happening. Also - since you must be over 21 - there are not alot of teeny-boppers hanging around the place. YEA!!

I read the posting about the bathrooms always being backed up -- that's a new one for me -- I've never seen it happen. So I think that is an exaggeration. Who knows. All in all - you can have a pretty good time at New York New York. Heck - I've met alot of people there that I can now call friends for many years. It needs a new look - yes - they tried with the new floors after taking up the carpet... but besides that, the rest is worth the trip.

  • Pros: Good food at reasonable $$
  • Cons: Interior could use a new look
