Great authentic Mexican food!. As an extra credit project for my high school Spanish II class, it was suggested for me to experience authentic Mexican food. I chose Los Mayas because I had eaten there in the past, and I remembered how delicious the food was. When I walked in I could tell by the looks and the sounds that it was authentic. Before my family ordered, we were given fresh chips and hot salsa. Even the menu had a Mexican flare to it. There were so many menu items to choose from, but I was drawn to the Fajitas Quesadillias. The service was good and the food tasted great. The prices were family friendly and reasonable. Overall, it was a great experience of the Mexican culture.
We love Los Mariachis. We are from Chicago & come to Clearwater often for vacation & come to Los Mariachis every time. If you go there for one thing, go for the margaritas, they are the best killer magaritas anywhere. The chips are homemade & very good & we always get guacamole, not your usual guac, but I think it's great. It has a creamy consistency. The food itself I think is very authentic, alot of food for the money, all the dinners are around $8-$10. They have mariachis singers there quite often too. If you're thinking about going here, get in the car & drive, you won't be dissappointed. The service is great too. Adios!
Great Food, Good Service. The place is called Los Mayas now, but is run by the same owners. The menu has been upgraded with a few new items as well. The food is great. This is the best Mexican Restaurant I've been to in the St.Pete, Tampa, Clearwater area. They give huge portions, and is pretty cheap ($7 - $12). We went there on Friday night and they actually had Mariachi band playing. I saw a lot of Mexican/South American people eating in the restaurant, so that gives you an idea of how the food is. The service was good, and the restaurant decor itself was on par with others Mexican restaurants in the area. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes Mexican food.
Best Mexican food EVER. All of you are crazy for saying one bad thing about this place. If the waiters ever screw up or look confused it's because of the language barrier, BUT THE FOOD MAKES UP FOR IT. The food is absolutely to die for. I've been coming to this place since I was 8 and I never get sick of it. You must try the chips and cheese dip. Delicious. Enchiladas are very good too. Pretty much everything on their menu is to die for. TRY IT
World Class Bad Service.
After all the bad reviews about the service, you would think they'd try to improve, but I see no signs of it. Granted, much of it could be due to the language barrier (most servers speak only basic English), but they could at least smile.
Meat dishes are consistantly overdone and dry, the salsa is often too hot, and side dishes seem microwaved rather than cooked to order. And when was the last time you were in a restaurant that served hot, spicey food and wouldn't refill your soft drink?
Editorial Review. Enjoy live music as you munch on authentic Mexican favorites, classic picks include the copious Nachos Locos and the chicken chimichangas.
User review by rayevans. I use to love the place but after the write up in the paper the place started going downhill. They must have changed to a cheaper enchilada sauce. We complained that it tasted burned and got no apology. We tried one more time a few weeks later and got the same. Also watch what the price on the menu for shredded lettuce says and what you get charged. Every time I ordered I got charged more.
Best Margargritas. It's been said before, the food is great, the service is ...so,so and the margaritas are the best I've ever had.
Excellent and authentic. I have been to both Los Mariachis and they are great and well worth the wait (which usualyl is not too long). The food is excellent, plentiful and how can you beat, authentic mariachi players who come to each table and entertain you with your own requests. Also, don't miss the strawberry marguerita, because it is the best around!
Best Mexican Food Ever!. I grew up in Clearwater, and I've lived all over the east coast, and I can honestly say that I've never had Mexican food as good as what they have at Los Mariachis. I used to think that the service was terrible, but now it seems fine, and it's just part of the experience. I never, NEVER miss a chance to eat there whenever I'm back in town!!!
