Good Neighborhood Italian. This is our favorite neighborhood Italian spot. I love lasagna and Portofino's makes one of my favorites. It's not sweet like most, but creamy and cheesy. We also like the Chicken Valdostana. The Chicken Saltimbocca special is great when they feature it. The pizza crust is thin and crispy, just the way we like it with good sauce and toppings. Salads are OK, but not memorable. Good bread and a decent wine list for a strip mall restaurant. Service is friendly and usually efficient, if not always totlally professional, but this isn't Armani's.
It's the worst - Don't Go. I have never been to an establishment that fails so miserably in every aspect of the business. Truely awful.
Skip Olive Garden and Come Here!. You will never find a more exquisite Italian restaurant in all of Florida than Portofino's in St. Petersburg. Upon entering it became clear that this is the type of restaurant I would feel welcome in. The decor is lovely and the staff is absolutely charming. I haven't even gotten to the food yet, just the restaurant alone is enough to make you return again. The food tastes like you are eating in a cottage tucked away in the Italian countryside. Each bite is filled with a flavor you will never forget! You will won't want to go to Olive Garden again-nothing can be more delicious than Portofino's!
Outstanding specialty Italian dishes. This is a true find for those wanting authentic Italian cuisine, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices, and wait staff that are truly attentive. My sister introduced me to this wonderful establishment when she moved to the area and if I lived closer I would surely dine there more often. The wait staff is always pleasant and very attentive to all our requests. The Italian cuisine found here is always cooked to perfection and the taste reminds us of dishes just like mama would make. And the Masi wine - SUPERB! The owners always take the time out of their busy day to stop at your table and say "Hi" and recommend their favorite dish of the day. No need to travel to Italy it's in your own backyard!
Great Italian Cuisine. Great dining experience.. I went to this restaurant when I was on business trip and it was a great dining experience.... Food was delicious and service was great......Huge portions too.....I was very impressed with the daily specials they had to offer......It has a very comfortable atmosphere ....The staff was very personable and accommodating....This is a great restaurant and recommend it to everyone.
Authentic Italian Cuisine. Highly Recommend. Always a pleasureable dining experience.. This is a true find for those wanting authentic Italian cuisine, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices, and wait staff that are truly attentive. I drive over the skyway bridge once a week to eat at this wonderful restaurant if I lived closer I would surely dine there more often. The wait staff is always pleasant and very attentive to all our requests. The Italian cuisine found here is always cooked to perfection and the taste reminds us of dishes just like mama would make. Take time to get to know the owners they make you feel like part of their family, remember your name and your favorite menu items. They offer delicious specials daily and offer all Italian favorites on the main menu entrees. We always order a second dinner to go so we can enjoy this cooking again the next day at home. Whenever we have company in town this is the only restaurant we take them to knowing the food will be outstanding, the service will be wonderful, and the atmosphere is perfect for a dinner with friends or family. If you haven't tried it, what are you waiting for? There is no place like Portofino for an unforgettable meal! We highly recommend for those who are looking for true Italian cuisine - no need to travel to Italy it's in your own backyard!
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. HORRIBLE, WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN A LOCAL EATERY....THE HOSTESS WAS ADORABLE AND VERY KIND....HAD A PROBLEM AND TALKED WITH THE MANAGEMENT....BUT SHE WAS VERY BELLIGERENT AND HOSTILE.....ALMOST TO THE POINT OF BEING RUDE AND ARGUING WITH ME, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM...MOST EMBARRESSING MOMENT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IN A LONG TIME.....I TRIED TO REASON WITH HER, BUT SHE INSISTED THAT SHE WAS GOING TO WIN THE BATTLE AND BEING THE GENTLEMAN THAT I AM, I LET HER WIN...WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE CUSTOMER MAY BE RIGHT ? IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME AT THAT STRIP MALL RESTAURANT....BUT I WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN....AND WILL SPEAK BADLY TO MY BUSINESS ASSOCIATED ABOUT IT FOR A LONG TIME TO COME.....IN THIS DAY OF TIGHT MONEY.....THIS IS NOT A TIME TO BE NASTY AND CRUDE.....THERE ARE TOO MANY OTHER WONDERFUL PLACES TO DINE IN.....AND BE TREATED WITH RESPECT.....I WOULD RATE THE OLIVE GARDEN ABOVE THIS PLACE, AND I DON'T MEAN THAT AS A COMPLIMENT.....I HAVE HAD TWO VISITS THERE.....MY FIRST TIME AND MY LAST TIME.....I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL......
portofino's. I went into the restaurant today for lunch and, had their meatball parm. It was to die for. Service was excellent, my waitress Collen was right on point. She was a funny, happy, extraordinary person with good recemendation for what to eat. For any family dinning for a good price I recemend Portofino's
I can only say I was shocked to find some good reviews here.. This is the single worst restaurant that I have ever experienced. I ignored the warning signs, Portofino is in a strip mall, and at the beginning of the dinner hour. All business were crowded except this one. No one else was here. We were led to the only table in the room without a little yellow sign explaing the up charge for bread, due to high wheat prices. The waitress was nice, but clearly embaarassed by managements policies. Half the food was bad, half was inendible. We returned a $12.00 meal , which they took off the bill but charges us separately for the accompaning salad and pasta. We got about a buck off for the bad entree. I usually find many redeeming qualities in a place which is not great, perhaps poor management but some good recipes from mama, but in this case, Mama must have wpent al of her days in the kitchen of a Sicilian prison. If you want to go, go soon, they will not last.
Best Place to Eat in the area. Portofino is a hidden treasure. We ordered a pizza for lunch and it was delicious. You can tell that it was made with high quality ingredients. The wait staff was very friendly and on top of things. It was not crowded and very prompt service during lunch time. There are very few places in the area that are not fast food or fried chicken! I will definitely return again!
