Tips for Little Italy Pizza

Good pizza, Philly steaks, garlic knots, Italian sandwiches, cold beer. I've been a regular at this spot for 40 years. There's no better Philly steak in Florida, the pizza is Northeast style- light crisp crust, the garlic knots are dripping with olive oil. It's a family run operation and it has counter service only- and busy on weekend evenings, with lots of little leaguers, soccer teams, etc and tends to be noisy. Go on Friday night early and catch the old car show at the Biff Burger a half a block north. With all due respect to "paulie's" reviews, this is one of our favorite casual spots. If you like it, check out Colonial Corner in Pinellas Park, similar and just about as good - or Gennaro's at Pass a Grille which is a bit more upscale but still a value.

I think, they should offer better service to regulars, but still, they are TOP PIZZERIA IN TOWN, by far

Call YELLOW CAB at 799-2222 if you had too many beers fOr promt service or Delivery?

2nd best pizza in st Pete. Love this place! Owned for years by Tobias who passed a couple years back. Now his son is running the place and keeping up with the rep. Delicious pizzas, cold beer, great salads! casual place. Only downfall is the kitchen help thinks it's a pick up joint and you can hear their comments for each guest that walks in, especially us women. Other than that, it's fantastic!

Great pizza!. Native New Yorker here. I have to say Toby's is the best pizza I've had in Pinellas County, and I have searched long and hard, north and south. With all due respect, anyone who compares it to Sbarro's needs his tastes buds checked. Sbarro's is disgusting, laden with goopy cheese, sweet sauce, and congealed grease. I'd rather gnaw on a cardboard box. Now Toby's on the other hand... the pizza has great sauce--not too sweet, not too tangy, and just the right amount. It has a good amount of cheese, not greasy or overloaded, and the right texture--not gummy or chewy. The crust is crisp, never burnt, with just the right amount of thickness. The ambience in Toby's reminds me of being back on Arthur Ave in the Bronx. Eating there, I forgot for a little while I was in a strip mall in St. Pete. I was a teenager again, picking up a slice after school on my way home. I love their cheesesteaks too, but I'm not an expert when it comes to them. My husband, who is from north of Philly and is a self-proclaimed expert, says Toby's cheesesteaks hold their own against what he grew up with. I'll take his word for it. I just know it tastes great. A perfect Sunday to us is splitting a cheese pie and cheesesteak from Toby's, football on the t.v. and the Steelers winning. Good stuff.

OK Pizza... It'll do. I have to agree with Paulie... This pizza is just "OK". It actually tastes exactly like Sbarro's in the mall ...garlic knots and all. But, it's not bad and I have to say it IS the best in the area. However, that isn?t saying much. I am still looking for good pizza here as well. You'd think with all the New Yorkers in St Pete that the Pizza would be better. I am very disappointed. Maybe the folks who love it are native to the area and don?t have much to compare. I find most of the food in St Pete to be bad to sub-par. I disagree on the service though. I found it to be very personable.

YES!! THE BEST. I don't know what Paulie2002/Paulie2007 is talking about. Maybe he is still looking for the best pizza because he has no clue what good pizza is. I have been going to Little Italy since I started working at the grocery store right next door to them (12 years ago). I go there at least once a month. I have yet to get something I didn't like from their menu. I prefer their pizza to any corporate pizza place. The seating is tight when you go during the busy hours, but on the other hand, I have yet to go and not be able to find a seat. The place is great. I like the busy atmosphere. FYI "Paulie" I do NOT work for the place. I am only a dedicated customer. Also, "Paulie" you mentioned you went during a pizza prime time (friday night) and they weren't very busy, I'm thinking you were not at the right place. Are you sure you were at Toby's Little Italy?? I have NEVER seen them dead like that even during non-prime pizza times. So I think you need to double check where you were.

40+ YEARS IN BUSINESS SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. I HAVE BEEN EATING T.L.I. PIZZA SINCE I HAVE BEEN OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE. ABOUT 25 YEARS. I LIVE IN TAMPA AND I TOOK MY WIFE THERE ONE TIME, AND NOW ALMOST EVERY TIME WE GO TO ST.PETE SHE WANTS TO GO TO T.L.I. SOMETIMES WE MAKE A SPECIAL TRIP THERE (25 MILES) JUST FOR THEIR PIZZA. IS IT THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD? NO. BUT ITS WORTH THE TRIP IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND YOU DONT WANT WHAT PIZZA HUT, PAPA JOHNS AND DOMINOS "CALL" PIZZA.

Sorry - still only average, at best.. I have a hunch that the owners are putting reviews here saying it's great, either that or these reviewers have little perspective on the subject of really good pizza.
