Very bad!. We are new in downtown St. Pete. We usually ask the locals on good food. Unfortunately we arrived at Sea Critters and was a disappointment!!!! Good location but needs the help of T.V. personality. New menu, etc. Minedga Archilla-McNamee/John McNamee Alemany, St. Pete/D.C./Culebra,Puerto Rico
Best seafood in Pass-a-Grille. Very Key West atmosphere. Great seafood and salads. Dining inside or out, it's a wonderful experience!
Great Dockside Dining. We've been to Sea Critter's a few times and have not been disappointed yet. The staff has always been super friendly. Every visit has been for a late lunch and we have never chosen to sit inside, you can't pass up the dockside dining. If you're lucky you might catch dolphins swimming in the channel catching some lunch themselves (we did)!! Great salads and sandwichs as well as drinks from the bar. We love the atmosphere, there is no mistaking that you are eating a "Cheeseburger in Paradise." It's just a great place to enjoy living in Tampa Bay!
With a Jimmy Buffett CD playing in the background and a waterfront view, it's a popular local hangout..
The Scene
The restaurant offers Key West-style dining, with the emphasis on seafood and a casual, low-key atmosphere. It has a nice, outside deck that sits over the water of the inland waterway near Pass-A-Grille Beach. Tiny strings of lights that snake around the restaurant and outline a nearby bridge gives the place a relaxed, festive air.
The Food
Simple, maybe too simple: A plain, char-broiled salmon steak with a simple pat of lemon-dill butter on top, and a sprinkle of fresh herbs; a big pile of red beans and yellow rice, and a colorful mound of steamed broccoli and summer squash. A loaf of white bread and a good salad.
The Details
If you're happy with the basics, this is as good a spot as any for you; but it was too bland for my taste. Everything needed more spice, more flavor. I would have loved a Bearnaise sauce on the fish, maybe something, even lemon juice, atop the steamed broccoli, hotter beans. After all, we're not talking rocket science here.
