Editorial Review for John's Pass Village – by Jen Robbins

The Scene
Rusted tin roofs and weathered planks all contribute to a carefully cultivated sense of antiquity at this "turn-of-the-century fishing village." Whether you buy it or not, the theme reels in crowds of tourists year-round.

The Experience
It's home to an assortment of tacky retail shops, but other attractions make John's Pass a pit stop for locals as well as tourists. The bulk of the fishing fleet docks here to unload their catch. Go parasailing, take a cruise, or embark on your own fishing trip. When hunger strikes, satisfy your pangs at one of the area's many seafood joints. A mind-boggling array of restaurants try to lure you in with promises of the freshest fish and best chowder, but the Friendly Fisherman, conveniently located right at John's Pass, is the locals' steadfast favorite.

The atmosphere at John's Pass Village is energizing. It runs the full gamut from quaint, economical family dining, a variety of shops, to a relaxed "kicked back" attitude at Gator's offering a florida feel to dining and beverages. With a hint of a New England fishing village at first glance, you eventually realize that THIS is the real deal in Florida. With density ever increasing in South Beach, it is a given that John's Pass Village should be enjoyed before the masses migrate. 5 star!

Pros: versatile, enjoyable, scenic
