BEST PLACE EVER!!! Went there with my hubby on my first trip to St. Pete. He's from there and all I've ever heard him do is rave about Coney Island. We weren't in St. Pete 10 mins and had to go here. Let me say, I am hard to please when it comes to chili dogs but this place blew me away!! The chili dogs were OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS!! Awesome service and great price! I am making this our place to go when we are in town!

Great time and experience. We enjoy the 1 hour drive up here from Sarasota to get 2 coneys and chocolate shake about once every 4-6 weeks. Sometimes you just gotta have it! Like stepping back in time. A classic.

Did you visit the same place I did???. Ate here today. The hotdogs were only okay, not much to speak of. The waitress made us feel as if we were bothering her. They do not have french fries, only chips and slaw. The milkshakes were okay, but Ive had much better at Steak and Shake. If I were to be downtown again, I would not go here. Go to El Cap or Munchs Resturant to get the nostalgia with food that is actully good. They also charge for refills on soda and if you want a really great hotdog, go to Mels on Busch in Tampa.. I will never return here.

Best Hot Dogs and Shakes ever. Coney Island has the best hot dogs and shakes you could dream up!!! I grew up eating here but have moved away to Georgia. I kept talking about this Hot dog place to my husbands surprise because I DON'T EAT HOTDOGS!!!!! We visited 2 weekends ago and of course went to Coney Island. They did not let me down! My husband is now hooked and wants to go back. My husband got the chili dog (onions on one side, mustard on the other and chili down the middle) I get the chili dog plus ketchup.....I believe they internally frown upon the ketchup, ha. We both got the chocolate shake which is the creamiest thick shake I have ever had in my life.

Definately a must go if in St. Pete

Coney just like in Flint, MI. Being raised in Flint, MI. I consider myself a true coney lover. I was so glad to finally find a true "Coney Dog" which are not topped with chili, but Coney Sauce. Now if I could only find Kogels hot dogs, I'd be all set!

Authentic!. The dogs, although small are great! Chilli cheese is the best. Not in the best location but if you are already down town worth the drive over. Don't walk there in the dark!

There's nothing fashionable about the Coney Island Sandwich Shop, but it does have a certain charm of its own--the practical simplicity of its old counter and stools, where working men and women drink coffee and joke with the waitresses. The limited menu is every bit as sturdy as the patrons, featuring chili dogs, hamburgers, BLT's. It's good for a quick-stop meal: Speedy and stripped to the basics.

What to Order
Chili dog all the way: That means a grilled hot dog topped with hot sauerkraut, chili, onions and mustard and ketchup. The chili by itself is fine, too. The hamburgers are thin, sort of a homecooked version of MacDonald's, but fresh and done quickly.

My favorite story of St. Pete. I can't believe this shop is still there. My father used to take my brothers and I there when we were little, in the 40's and 50's. They used to serve cokes with a waxed straw in them, and the hot dogs were the best!!! When I went back in the 70's with my small children for a visit, I was trying to tell the guy behind the counter that I loved it there when I was little and I had brought my children back for a sentimental visit, he said, "Yeah lady, so are you gonna order or what?" I was crushed. Too funny.

First rate nostalgic dining. I took prerelief before the chilli-dogs and had 9. It was a home run you have to try this. One of the best memories of nostalga you will ever dine in.

Best Coneys ever. We, my husband and I think the are the greatest Hot Dogs ever. We take family and friends there every time they visit.
