Used to Be my Favorite Resturant. On Jan 22,2011 I took my family to the ST. Petersburg's location of the Melting Pot.It happen to be my favorite restaurant of all times. It took me a year to convince my boyfriend to take me there. What a horrible evening...service stunk, food was awful, and the owner stated that he would compensate us for are terrible evening..his name is Chris Wilson....he didn't do what he said he was going to do and on top of that he kept asking me if it was really my Birthday......What kind of place is this? Then all of in my party were sick with food poison the very next day. I should have know better to eat the food when there was iceberg lettuce in a salad that was primarily suppose to be baby mixed greens...I guess the economy is getting them as well. Do yourself a favore save your money and do some where else.

It's hip to dip at this cozy fondue-lover's paradise.. In Short
Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.

Best if kept to a small group, romantic for two, noisy for more.... If you are looking for a romantic slow dinner with your lover, then this is a good bet. Service is good, slow is due to having to cook your food yourself in the pans. Plan on getting at least two different types of cooking pans to spice things up a bit. Also plan on a desert melt afterwards.

Women love this place, guys hate it. The cheese fondue and salad are pretty good. But cooking your own steak and seafood in boiling broth was just plain? plain. I?m not a dessert fan, but that looked good too.

Dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine was $145 (with tip). Pretty expense for meat boiled in broth.

Unfortunately, we will be back next year for her birthday, again.

Great Date Night. This is definatly not a hurried dinner. Each table is given about 2 hours for dinner. As soon as you walk in the doors everything just slows down and the relaxation starts. The food is delicious, your choice of cheese fondue to start( I like the swiss best). Then the entree is a cut of various meats(filet, chicken, pork) and seafood(scallops, shrimp, lobster) or you can go for the vegetarian selection and veggies. And then a nice selection of original dessert fondues. Dining here is an experiance to savor. We've also done a few big gatherings here, usually takes about 4 hours for a large group(around 40ppl). We closed the place down once! And we never felt rushed. I would not recommend this place for young kids though, hot fondue burners on the table and the time the whole experiance takes is asking a bit too much from young ones. If you are looking for a romantic dinner, this is it!

Personally I don't get it. Tried this place twice, both times proved VERY disappointing! Food quality is okay, service is horrid. Our dining experience lasted 4 1/2 hours, NOT by our chosing! Extremely expensive, not good for kids, not really good for adults either. On a positive, it was unique - I guess its worth a try, once, hope your experience will be better than mine.

Love it!. Be prepared - This is an experience, not just a meal. It takes an entire evening to dine and you DO cook the meal yourself at your table - that IS the fondue concept. Some consider that a "con" but I love it.

The food is delicious. The dessert is TO DIE FOR and sometimes we go in just for that. Thankfully, service at this branch is more consistant than at others in this chain.

Would I go with kids? Well, that depends on the kids. I've been seated near children several times and it wasn't a problem. Large groups? Well, the style of dining forces a feeling of 'division' into smaller groups, even at the large tables because it's 4 to a cooking pot. If you don't mind that, it's fun to do.

The romance level is VERY high. They are ALL ABOUT the special occasion!

St. Pete Melting Pot A++++. While visiting the St. Pete area, I wanted a romantic and cozy restaurant to bring my wife to. The St. Pete Melting Pot was unbelievable. The hostess and staff were extremely friendly and the service was very attentive and personable. The very professional and friendly manager stopped by our table a few times to answer all of our questions and to help and assist us in any way. The food and drinks were spectacular (especially the chocolate fondue). Thanks again for a great evening and we will see you every time we are in town at your wonderful restaurant.

romantic getaway!!!!. There are a lot of restaurants in the bay area that are romantic and fun. The Melting Pot in St. Petersburg, FL delivered the most romantic dinner for me and my wife. The service has greatly improved over our last visit more than a year ago. Our server guided us through a wonderful night of fondue!!! The food was fresh and tasty, and the managers were truly hospitable and friendly! Thank you Melting Pot!
