Average – Let me start with the positives;
- The service was good for a large group.
- The calzone was good, salad looked decent, & the portions were large.
- Prices were not bad at all for the portions
Now the bad;
- A cockroach ran across the table near my wife's food. The only concerned person was one of our servers. A manager came over and made a comment that they shouldn't be out now.
- Nothing was taken off our bill after the whole cockroach incident until my wife said something. Then she was offered 10% off or a $10 gift card. Gee a whole $3 off or a gift card to a place we on't go back to. Finally got her meal taken off the bill.
Maybe the pizza is good but you may want to get it to go.
CDB'S!!!!!!! – CDB's has one of the best pizza's in Florida.. It upsets me to read all of the comments below from one time only customers. It's obvious that they didn't have a great first experience and that really stinks.. but take it from someone who goes all the time, their pizza is fabulous! I haven't ordered anything else from there and I've only sat down and ate a couple times but I fell in love with their pizza first bite!... Which is a lot coming from someone who grew up in New England where pizza is pretty much the best.. I think everyone should at least give the pizza a try because you won't be disappointed!
BTW, they expect you to seat yourself considering how small the waiting area is.. and just because you're not Italian does not mean you can't make great Italian food.
Long waits for average food – When we looked this place up online it said that reservations were recommended though I don't know why. So we made reservations (I waited three minutes on hold.) We showed up a few minutes early and ended up waiting ten minutes for a seat in an almost completely empty restaurant. Three employees saw us at the entrance waiting to be seated. Finally I walked back to the bar and one of the employees (who had seen us waiting) asked me if I needed help. I asked if we seated ourselves or waited to be seated. She then told another employee (who had also walked up to the entrance and saw us standing there) to seat us. What did they think we were standing there for?
As it turned out our server happened to be the same employee that seated us. He was less than helpful. We ordered the fried ravioli as an appetizer. They were overcooked and crunchy. For the entrée we ordered the pizza and after reading Gianni's review I'm glad we didn't order anything more expensive. The pizza was nothing to shout about. After waiting another ten minutes the check finally came. Overall we were there for 1 hr and 10 mins in an empty restaurant. So if you like long waits for average food by all means head on over to CDB Italian.
A Big Letdown – This was our first and last time going to CDB Italian Restaurant.
We ordered fried mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. They had no taste to them at all. It was obvious they were just out of the freezer into the fryer.
The salad we had turned out to be the highlight of the who meal.
Entrees we ordered were Chicken Marsala and Seafood Sampler (shrimp, scallops and crabmeat with choice of pasta).
The Chicken Marsala average at best. The Seafood Sample did not contain crabmeat, but imitation crabmeat. That is not being honest with the customer.
I chose white sauce over red and the sauce was extremely watery.
The cooks were Mexicans and Japanese so what would make me think this place would serve great Italian food.
There are far better Italian food restaurants in the Tampa Bay area than this place.
To add insult to injury the waitress didn't deduct the certificate I had from the bill, I had to tell her she forgot to do it. It's not like the place was really busy as she had only one other table she was waitressing.
The best Pizza we have ever had – After joining friends for a lunch prior to attneding the Bold/Fresh meeting at the Superbowl on the USF campus. , I decided to take my wife and daughter to try the Greek salad and great pizza in the future.
This weekend, I was able to take them to try Cdb's and it was an exceptional treat. Curtis our waiter was friendly and very helpful in offering us a special large salad and pizza for a special price. The salad was excellent and the pizza was tpped with extra cheese and sausage and the bottom layer was covered with pepperoni. We took a doggie bag of salad and half or the pizza for another meal at home. I first had pizza in Chicago in the late 1940's, and the Cdb pizza surpasses any pizza I have evr eaten. Cdb is where we will eat pizza again and again. Try it you will like it.
Big & Tasty! – I had the chance to stop by CDB's the other day for dinner. Wow! What a great menu! The food was so TASTY and the portions so BIG!! I would highly recommend this place. I had to take home several doggy-bags...and It was just as good the next day. Check it out sometime.
continuing a long tradition – CDBs is an old North Tampa tradition. The new owner has kept the old menu, recipes, and huge portion sizes. I believe the quality is as good as CDB was at the height of its heyday. I was surprised to discover this. I'll definitely be returning for one of their fantastic diet delight salads!
Great Pizza and Italian meals. – Although it is under new management , the new owner are striving well to maintain the same great taste and service. doing great.
terrible business practice, shocked me – Ok, we normally eat at a different restaurant and I have decided to try to find a less expensive place because a good pie doesn't need to be $20. The price was almost as high but I was eager to try this unknown place hoping that the pizza was great. Well..... They burned the cheese and the counterperson said they could make a new pizza if I wanted (as well they should have). Well, they took the pizza into the back and put new cheese over the old burned cheese to hide it. I got home, opened the box and peeled the top layer of cheese back only to find the burnt cheese underneath. I was shocked and still can hardly believe they would do that. I returned with the pie, gave the pizza back and a $5 gift certificate they had given me for having to wait for a new pizza. I got a refund, and declined a "free" pizza from the management. That is just very poor business practice and it cost them any future business of mine. Be warned, my advice is just to STAY AWAY.
PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA – THEY HAVE BEEN GRAT FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS NOW. ALWAYS GREAT FOOD. A STAPLE ON THE NORTH END OF TOWN!!!! GOOD LOCATION AND PLENTY OF PARKING!!!
