The bright and modest cafe, formerly Pipo's Cafeteria, near Carrollwood, is a humble eatery with excellent food..
The Scene
Go through the cafeteria line and select a huge, steaming plate of roast pork—light, moist, and served with a delicious sour-orange marinade. Order with it black beans, yellow rice and fried plantains, which are a crispy cousin of the banana.
At lunch, the restaurant throws in bread and a drink—and you're home free for $6.50. If you're a light eater, plan to share with a friend or take home half. Buen apetito!
