Editorial Review – Locals enjoy homemade Mexican meals that include fresh-corn tamales, Oaxaca pork tacos and refreshing rice-based Horchata.
Best Mexican food in the Tampa Bay area! – I have been eating Hispanic food in the Tampa Bay area for over 30 years. I have been to Mexico, several Latin American countries and Spain. The Guadalajara has the best Mexican food in the Tampa Bay area without exception. The food is at the level of delicious "home-made" meals. The menu is well rounded and complete including Coca-Cola imported from Mexico. A charming atmosphere with a bubbling fountain and lots of colorful tile. Courteous and efficient service. Close to Tampa International Airport and with plenty of parking, this is a Mexican restaurant where Mexican's come to eat. Muy Excellente! Muy Rico!
The best kept secret in Mexican cooking in Tampa Bay. – Being born in San Antonio, Texas and of Cajun parents, with a great uncle who was a Mexican and lived in Baton Rouge, it is just a tradition to eat good Mexican cuisine. How many times I remember eating at my uncle's home on a hot sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge and having homemade tamales, and a snowcone afterwards from his little business stand in front of his home along the road. Those fond memories have been renewed with my first and not my last to the Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant. I met with the owner, Sol, and his family. They were gracious, courteous, and his staff was attentative to all our needs. And the food was authentic, freshly prepared from scratch, and simply delicious. I had the combination platter plus an extra tamale so i could have a little taste of everything. my wife had the chicken flauntas which she said was better than all the other restaurants we have been in. after our meal, I gave Sol a big hug and kiss on the cheek and said this was from my uncle Joe, "I am sure he guided me to your restaurant to meet you." I said to him. Uncle Joe has passed for many years now but his grandson has opened a restaurant in Baton Rouge, and I hope to visit it when I am up there for a visit again. but in the meantime, I will be eating at the Guadalajara for my Mexican meals. Viva Mexicana and Senior Sol and his family.
merci et gracias,
Guadalajara's is the real deal. I could not believe they actually make authentic Mexican food. The salsa is always fresh and picas the right amount. Dollar value is more than reasonable. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The food is cooked the way abuela use to make. This reviewer highly recommends: for starters, the Guadalajara queso dip with a glass of Horchata to wash it down, coke will work too. For dinner, get the Barbacoa dinner with tortillas de maiz. The portions are quite generous. This makes for a tough decision in ordering dessert. Stop by! It's an absolute Tampa must for Mexican food. Also, my now fiancée proposed to me there and I said si.
Hey – Hi Im really close to the family and they are very sweet the food very good, hope none of the guys read this but the guys are cute you that Andrew . Andy . Byant and Papi the owner is a sweet heart I call him papi because he acts like a dad The foods great and the show is better.
If you like real mexican food this is the place. – I have been going out of my way for years to eat at this small family run establishment. The food is excellent and I am treated like family there, even though I am a Gringo. I Recommend the Chicken Burrito Dinner (Suizo Mojado Style).
Authentic Mexican Food – This is the best authentic Mexican food in the Tampa Bay area by far. You get huge portions, cheap prices and service with a smile. Recommend the horachata, not sure if it is homemade, but it sure taste like it.
Real Mexican – La Guadalajara is the closest to real Mexican food you will find in Florida. This restaurant is not a chain but the loving creation of one family. Most of the patrons are of Latin heritage and the main dinging room has a large running fountain filled with plants. The portions are very large and the wait staff is friendly and bilingual.
