I love almost all of the Steak & Shakes' I go to.....with one exception; The Steak & Shake at 1450 East Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL.-- "I will never go to that one location, ever again!" Why? A.) Server never did seat us. Long wait to sit down; over 15 minutes. Was everyone to busy, really? B.) We busted/cleaned our own table. Really don't mind doing that, but I do not work there! C.) Had to retrieve our own menus, while my R.knee was in intense pain. D.) Another server had to explain, 'they were going through a shift change', this was the reason for 'no service??!!! (Very Unprofessional, I might add!....Couldn't one be paid over time for covering this change in the time period?) E.) Manager thought we had ordered milkshakes, instead of two orders for burgers/fries. F..) Orders took over 30 minutes to prepare; fires were greasy and dry; my mother is a diabetic, and needed a decent meal. G.) Server, 'threw a fit' when I told her that the cheese was for my mother's order not mine, since I am allergic to cheese & Cheese products, so my Mum ate most of my meal. H.) Server gave me a 'dirty Napkin/utensils'. Because seeing someone else food on them was so attractive.... (There is more, but why add them when I know this will not be addressed.) As a former Navy Culinary Specialist, this would had (the mistake) never been repeated! This is the second time this had happened. This is why I did not go back to that location for over 7 months. I went there to get a meal after a doctor's appointment, because it was close, and I thought the problems of the past had been addressed. Yes, the Manager, told me that she would cover the charge of our meal, for what had happened, but this is not the first time! The first time I kept my mouth shut, but paid for my meal. This time, I have to address this, even through the manager ask me not to. 'Now it makes me want to avoid that location like the 'black-plague', because it makes me think that something fishy is going on there. As a Disabled Veteran, I felt also felt very humiliated, by the service we received. I also felt our meals were paid for, to keep the problems at that location, 'hush-shush'. I will alert/tell the D.A.V. to keep our members (active military/veterans/etc.), away from that location, until something is done. The funny thing is that one of the D.A.V. member actually recommended this place, as one to go and have a great meal at. I will tell him, next week, when I see him, that he was wrong in his suggestion, and the reasons why. I wish that I would of remembered to write the Server's/Manager's names down, but I was so angered by what happened, so we left in a hurry. I will go back to the Steak & Shake off of 5917 E. Hillsbourgh Ave area. At least over there, they are understanding, kind, and have a crew who can actually cook. (And yes, I did report this at the Steak 'n Shake site, so let's see if they get back to me!)

1950s diner fries up fast-food classics 24 hours a day.. In Short
Entering the clean, bright interior is like stepping into an "Archie" comic book. Hurrying across white- and black-checkered floors, staff in crisp white shirts and paper hats take orders, polish chrome and shuffle between booths and the full-service counter. Middle-American diner standards dominate the menu--pickle-covered steak burgers, chili cheeseburgers and thick shakes. Healthier options include chicken, chef and taco salads.

great for a midnight snack. steak n shake is great because everything is made to order and thats all you really need to order off the menu anyway, a steak n shake. they have the best hamburgers in the south and their milkshakes can't be beat.
