Excellent Mexican Food – Miguel's is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. It has a very good variety of delicious Mexican dishes as well as very good chips and salsa. The service is personable, if not fast and the food is consistently good.
Food decent but nothing to rave about!! – we went around 2pm on a Tuesday. Went for the Tuesday special, 24.99 fajitas for 2 plus margarita/sangria pitcher. Being from Texas, I think I've had better, but the fajitas weren't too bad, Boracho beans were awesome, rice was nice but not what I was used to, but good. The only real let down when our food was placed in front of me were the tortillas!!! straight up store bought. and it seems that they weren't even warmed up on the stove but heated up some other way(nuked maybe)..I hate to say the tortillas kinda let down the rest of the meal. The pitcher of margarita tasted like water down lemonade. As far as the staff goes. He was very accomodating. Atmosphere was not a big problem. I'd say a good restaurant for in and out dining for people your already chummy with.. but not for a first casual date or something like that.
Great find, warm atmosphere, great food, moderate pricing – Just dined there last evening for my second visit and was as impressed as the first. Small, quaint restaurant, not fancy, but warm ambience. I think their sangria is some of the best around so order a pitcher if you're sharing. The food is much better than the quality at the "chain" type mexican restaurants popping up. The service is attentive as on both occasions the waiters checked back several times to see if we needed anything. My bellweather is the chips and salsa which is complimentary, the salsa is very good, diced with a medium hot factor and the chips are even better. It's a moderately price family restaurant that is definitely worth a visit if you like mexican food that is freshly prepared and modest pricing..
good stuff – Cheap, fresh, homemade, very solid Mexican food. This is really tasty stuff - I finally found an inexpensive restaurant in Tampa that doesn't serve junk! Yeaay! I love to come back to this place.
If you want Mexican food and drive by this place....dont stop go to Taco Bell....Im serious!!!! – I had been craving mexican food for a few days and looked up the reviews on this restaurant, what a mistake. First off the drinks, what mexican restaurant doesnt make good Sangria? This one...well unless you like watered down fruit punch.I have had better Sangria at Olive Garden and cheaper. The service was terrible, the busser could've done a better job.The food was cold by the time we recieved it however the two other people with me ate it but I wanted new stuff and it still came out cold, lol.Lets top off the evening by saying the waiter didnt even ask if we wanted refills,or even dessert before he dropped our check, then came back to see if we had paid, but guess what after all that we were still willing to eat dessert. The dessert was okay.I just want to say service was slow food cold and when all is said and done it wasnt even a fri or sat night....Enough said!
Good, fresh food and a lot of it. – It?s relatively small and simply appointed dining area and weather worn though still colorful exterior shouldn?t be taken at a negative face value. This is an excellent dining establishment for people who like really good food at a reasonable price with generous portions served in a reasonably quick manner.
The one draw back is the small parking area which leaves a lot to be desired. It would also be a good idea to call ahead if coming in with a large (6 or more)group.
I have enjoyed all the dishes I have been served and I am most fond of the Pollo Loco a grilled chicken entree for under $10 and the Fajitas Mario a spicy take on this favorite dish that doesn?t overwhelm for around $12. One of the hardest things to do is to not fill up on the appetizers; the size of the Stuffed Jalapenos alone has to be seen to be believed.
I have been eating there now on at least a monthly basis for the past 2 years and the quality of the food has remained consistently high no matter what I have ordered, and they have a large and varied menu to choose from. All food is cooked to order and only the most dedicated glutton could walk away hungry. If you like Mexican food you can not go wrong in choosing Miguel?s.
Runied My Family Night... – My husband and I took our 2 kids here for dinner last week. When we got there only 5 tables had diners and 4 or 5 other tables had not been bussed. They sat us 2 tables from the front door. The waitress came and stocked the sugars on the table (obviously doing her side work ) but NEVER waited on us. We waited for 20 minutes!!!!! There is no way they didn't see us ...we were right b the hostess stand! Finally we just got up and walked out. Luckily we went down the street and had a great dinner .....
One of the Best Around!! – I wouldn't consider myself to be any sort of expert on the absolute authenticity of Mexican cuisine (since I've never travelled to Mexico), but the food served at this restaurant is more than enough to convince me that the owners know what they are doing. I am a frequent diner at this establishment, and I've yet to order a single dish that I've disliked. I am not an haute cuisine snob, but by contrast I do posess a palate elevated far above the humdrum offerings of fast food joints. That being said, here are a few of my observations about this place: the entree portions are adequate to overly large, the food is always piping hot, and the grilled chicken is better than any I've been able to prepare for myself at home. I absolutely love the guacamole! The staff makes sure my beverage always stays full (one of my pet peeves is an empty glass). If you still have enough room left once you're done with the meal, do yourself a favor and order a slice of the amazing chocolate cake! One more thing - if you want a sedate atmosphere, go somewhere else. People like to dine here with their friends and families and enjoy their company with lively conversation between savory mouthfuls of yumminess. Enjoy!
Avoid this place – Coming from the west coast, I feel comfortable saying I have experienced great Mexican food. This place does not rate up there. Over priced below average food. If you have a craving for Mexican food, I say search elsewhere!
Great food – I've been eating at Miguel's for several years. Their specials are great. The last time I ate there I had a poblano pepper stuffed with crab meat. It was awesome. The Alambres are great and the Fajitas Mario too. The service has been a little off occassionally but the food makes up for it. There seems to be a high turn-over there with the wait staff but the managers seem to stay the same. I think with a high turnover and always having newbies, stuff will happen. I recommend going during the week. They get jammed up on the weekends and don't even consider Cinco de Mayo without a reservation. It isn't authentic Mexican but it's way better than Tia's, Don Pablos, etc. Don't forget to try the coconut flan but don't get it fried!
