The Scene – Crouched among the clutter of North Dale Mabry Highway, it doesn't look very promising, but once you step inside this nice Korean restaurant, the noise and crazy traffic give way to quiet and order. Two big aquariums dominate the decor, big fish lazily swimming amid the diners. Inexplicably, you relax instantly. Perhaps it's due to the clean, neutral colors and big stretches of rice-paper screens. – – The Crowd – The patrons tend toward well-dressed business types, and most of them must be repeat customers because the waitress knew her customers…
Back, and better than pre-fire

I go to Matoi at least once a week for lunch. Friendly, fast service puts this place at the top of my list. Liked it before the fire put them out of commission for awhile, but now that they're back, they are better than ever.
The atmosphere is very clean (new), comfortable, and it's a great place whether you're in the mood for great sushi or Korean comfort foods like Bulgogi or Dolsot Bibimbap. Kimchi is good here too.
- Pros: Great sushi OR Korean comfort food
- Cons: um... none

I've been going to this Sushi Restaurant since I was in the womb. I go at least every two weeks, well not since the fire but still. Every time I walk in it's instant calm and sometimes yes the waitresses can be a little impatient but it mostly cause their trying so hard to get everybody's orders out ASAP. The sushi has never disappointed and I love their Volcano roll and Miso soup. I've tried other places while they are closed but every time I find myself comparing and Matoi has always won. Even their Unsweet tea is better. I've had my last 3 birthday parties there and the staff even bought me drinks for my 21st. I make sure I take every friend to this place and will continue to do so.
- Pros: rolls and fresh fish
- Cons: friday night crowds
