Fantastic Cuban. I stopped in for a cuban to go, and my girl ordered a stuffed potato. I had read that the cubans were good here so i had to try one. Yes it's true, this is perhaps the best cuban sandwich in Tampa. So far... I'm still on the move, gotta try em all. And I just had a regular cuban, they also have what they call a King Cuban too.
Classic!. This bakery has been a part of my life for my 36 years! From my parents and grandparents taking me their as a kid, always good memories! The crabs are pricy, but loaded with crab meat! The best!!!!
May be good for bread and pastries but NOT a New Haven style pizza here. Was very disappointed in what they bill as a New Haven style pizza, first mistake was not calling it by it's true name "Apizza". Crust was the biggest disappointment, more like a cracker than true pizza dough. My family is from New Haven so I know what their pies should taste like and sad to say, this is not it. Pizza is not terrible but not New Haven style at all.
I LOVE this place!. Alessi is wonderful! I love their take out selections that you can eat on their covered patio. Meals here are huge and delicious (try the roasted turkey!)!!! And I can't rave enough about their desserts... I'm in real trouble when it's buy one get one free! The beautiful selection of sweets is mind boggling and the staff is always very knowledgeable & friendly. Ask for Wink when you're trying to make up your mind, he's never steered me wrong!
People may come with a simple lunch in mind, but they crumble when they see the desserts..
The Scene
The Alessi family has been proudly turning out Latin-infused European baked goods since 1912. Today, their shop is located close to downtown and still offers an incredible selection of sandwiches, salads, hot entrees and (of course) desserts. Strategically placed pastry cases are packed with Cuban, Italian and American favorites, ensuring that lunching locals will give in to temptation on the way out.
The Food
Specialty creations reveal Italian, French and Latin influences on American standards; Cuban breads, French and European-style rolls dress-up hefty sandwiches. The outstanding turkey and provolone on rye packs about a pound of lunch meat in a single order. Patrons with a sweet tooth will be satiated with an enormous array of indulgences like Spanish sugar cookies, macaroons, 16 varieties of tortes and decadent cakes.
you can count on them. i always go here for the special occasion cakes. they have a good variety of cakes to choose from and they are delicious!
