Editorial Review for Embassy Suites – by Cory Jane Birkett
In Short
In 1984, the first Embassy Suites location debuted in Overland Park, Kan. Today, the property's luxury accommodations make it an ideal hotel for conferences, special events and weddings. All hotel rooms are spacious two-room suites that include a separate living area with a sofa bed and desk, a private bedroom, two televisions, a wet bar, a refrigerator and a coffeemaker. Guests may also attend a nightly reception with beverages.

I used to live in Tampa and remember this hotel as top of the line. The hotel looks great from the outside but the pictures online do not match what you get. I called several times to find out specific details of the rooms, because I had others traveling with me and got different answers every time. This place claims to be renovated and "upscale". I challenge an Embassy Executive to stay in a two bedroom suites on the 12th, 11th or 10th floor and see how "upscale" they are. When you walk in the lobby there is a heavy cover up air freshener that is gagging--why all the cover up? The hallways smelled of Lysol. If you are chemical sensitive avoid this hotel all together. There were funky chemical smells everywhere. My party was shown several bedrooms that were supposed to be renovated. The appliances were laden with mold and rusted. The fridge gaskets were full of mold and just unclean-old appliances. There was a locked cabinet that was supposed to be stocked with goodies that one can purchase--it was empty. There was beaten up furniture--chunks of wood missing-no desks or coffee table available. Even the cheapest hotels provide a work desk! It was obvious that furniture was missing--three chairs at a four seat table. The furniture was disgusting. Seat covers on the couches were recovered with vinyl but the backs and arms were original stained cloth. The air intake and outputs were caked with filth. I guess the new carpet is the renovation they were referring to. This accommodation did not merit the high price. I had to drive around trying to find better place to stay, thank goodness I am familiar with Tampa. The Embassy out at USF was really beautiful and cheaper than the westshore--I highly recommend it, I checked out the rooms that night. Clean in everyway! But they couldn't accommodate our party that night-understandable. In the end I found another hotel chain to stay with out near USF, which was fabulous.
Pros: none
