Mickey D's Would have done it better. After speaking with the asst. manager about an overcooked lobster and an inedible fatty gristly steak, I was told "well, we are not a steakhouse". Flabbergasted, I spoke w/the Mgr, who after 10 minutes of heated discussion w/my spouse agreed to pay for HALF of the inedible meat. Amazing. Then he invited us to come back. Ummm, sure, if you actually hired waiters and bothered to train them, AND footed the whole bill. Poor service...waited for 35 minutes before fetching my own water. What an anniversary dinner it was. Highly unreccomended.
Landry's. The food here is very good. The atmosphere is pleasant. The several times we have dined here the service has only been adequate. I would recommend better training for the waiters.
Perfect place for seafood and a view. The Snapper here is great...and I don't even like fish. The service was very good. It's nice they give the whole table a bowl full of salad, so no one goes hungry. I think I will stick to Bonefish for my favorite seafood place, but the view makes it a great place to bring visitors.
The beautiful waterfront setting and lush outdoor patio set it apart from many of its competitors..
The Scene
The restaurant is instantly recognizable by the movie-marquee-style sign announcing its name in bright lights. The place sits atop a thin spit of land called Rocky Point, though it's hard to imagine anywhere in Florida is actually "rocky." Sit on the patio, which faces east across Tampa Bay and overlooks a green hedge of wild mangrove and native vegetation. You'll see redwing blackbirds, gorgeous pink spoonbills, mockingbirds, seagulls, pelicans and grackles.
The Food
Typical seafood menu with all types of fish, pastas, salads and even fowl and steaks for landlubbers. Order up a salad, which the waiter tosses at the table with dressing--nothing fancy, but reasonably good. Make your way to two solid entrees: a huge Caesar salad and nearly two pounds of Alaskan snow crab. The bananas foster is excellent: a huge plateful of ice cream, whipped cream and bananas.
excellent view. the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Service was great and hte servers were friendly.
OUTSTANDING..... We enjoyed it all..soup to nuts.... The appetizer was a good size portion. The tuna, crabmeat and catfish were awesomely fresh. The accompanying sauces were delicious. Even the Martinis we had were very good. We were only disappointed that our visit to the Tampa area was so short, we would certainly gone back for more. Kudos to Landry's on a job well done.
