Fun VIP lounge. This club is a default dance spot if you can get access (which by the way, is much better scene on the VIP side) and if Ybor is all played out. It's mostly buxom Tampa girls and guys in striped shirts and distressed jeans posing as players, which some folks find an obnoxious scene. But I go because I love the music (hip hop, other mashups), and one of the bartenders is a friend. The right hand side has a larger dance floor, but I like the intimacy of the VIP lounge.

The Worst!. A red velvet rope, people deciding if you can come in or not by the way you lok and of you are a female or not, where do they think we are???? Ive been going to HPC for years, but will no longer, it is just rediculous for a bar in tampa to have this attitude, too bad cause its a pretty club and sometimes plays good music, but the silliness to have so many rules in Tampa is well, just SILLY!

Is this place a gay bar?. The snobby attitudes in this place are horrible and way too many pretty boys/ guys, feels like a gay bar. Wait,... maybe I missed that part somewhere! VIP area is way too dark and way too open, so your paying to not be seen as its too dark but everyone is walking right by you. So if you were paying in the VIP area to be seen, not the place for it! Its a nice place building wise but the crowd wants everyone to think they are loaded, which is NOT the case. This place has gone down quite a bit. Unless your latino, dont bother with latino night, you are made to feel like your not welcome for not being latino.

It seems that everyone here looks like they model, but left the "I'm too sexy" attitude at home, making it an attractive atmosphere without all the pretension. Velociti is a smallish dance bar with its own name. The torch-lit outdoor bar is technically Hyde Park Caf?. Groovy oil projector lighting illuminates the globes on the wall making it feel like a 3-D video game. Some of the best DJ talent in the city spins for the crowd on the awesome terrazzo dance floor, a pure, booty-shaking pleasure.
Who Are You?
The pretty lady won't let you into the VIP back bar? Don't sweat it. You're not missing much, and the hotties are on the dance floor anyway. A less crowded space and top-notch service are the real pluses. It's definitely VIP, but not as friendly.

3 bars in 1. I've been the the Hyde Park Cafe a couple of times once as a large group for a birthday party on Satuday and then just a few of us to hang out on a Friday night. Comparatively, I enjoyed the music and atmosphere on Friday night the best. The people are fun to watch, a good mix of all types. The general age seems to be between 23 and 30. It is nice to go to a club that has an outside bar (relaxed) and two inside "clubs" for when you get into the mood to dance. It is a lot cleaner and more classy then Ybor City clubs.

much hype. i've been to hyde park cafe a couple of times, all on Tuesdays for Jask. the crowd is... pretentious. a bunch of NYC/SouthBeach wanna-be's trying to act and look cool. the music is *great*, jask knows how to work a crowd. nice deep house. the space itself is very nice.
