What People Are Saying About The Masquerade

In Short – Hang at one of three bars and watch the madness unfold. The large center room features a sunken dance floor that has the potential to get unruly, if not downright messy. Off to the side, the solarium features a bar and more eclectic musical offerings. For a more laid-back evening, shoot pool in the adjoining billiards hall while VIPs visit the upstairs soundboard/DJ area for casual voyeurism. Bands run the gamut from hip hop to swing. Foam parties, raves and hip-hop themes fill the odd days in between concerts.
Editor's Tips
- Save Money:
- Shell out a paltry $6 and drink your fair share of cheap liquor on Thursday nights.
- The Extras:
- Thursdays feature Old Wave in the Theatre, with backbeat and techno in the Solarium. Saturdays feature an alternative mix in the Theatre, with hip-hop in the Solarium.
First impression of Ybor

This was the first club I attended in Ybor six years ago. The sound system was good, better than others. It was always full of fun, friendly people. So, my first impression of Ybor was great. I was hooked after that. Going back to Ybor on NYE.
Talk about getting shafted!!

I have been to MANY concerts and shows at Masquerade and it is one of the BEST venues in the Tampa Bay Area to see a show. The acoustics are awesome and you can see the stage from any viewpoint in the place! Might be a little small, but just makes for a better time for everyone!!!
THIS IS EXTREME!!!

Well seeing as I live in Jacksonville Florida (no please don't feel sorry for me), and the Milk Bar doesn't exist anymore, there are very few good concerts here, and no good venues. KMFDM was touring last summer, and more importantly PIG was touring with them. To make this tour more unique and ultimately complete they played together as one band. That made it awesome seeing Raymond Watts AKA PIG play a good amount of PIG songs and ones he did with KMFDM. This Venue was big enough for the all the types of people that showed up. Enough bars, bathrooms, and enough seating for my liking. The stage is just big enough, even considering that KMMFDM/PIG had up to 8 people on stage at once. Support this venue people, don't be a lame lazy loser poser and not go.
- Pros: Size, Accustics, Feel
- Cons: Local Parking fee, Long lines, More seating
good place, but needs work.

I really enjoy the Masquerade in general, but I went in on Friday night expecting a kick ass punk night (as was advertised) and the dj was absolutely AWFUL. When my friends and I walked in (after driving from downtown St. Pete) we were blasted with bad industrial (Rammstein, of all bands...) instead of something like Dead Boys or Sex Pistols. I was very pissed off, feeling cheated and knowing that I could do a MUCH better job myself, so we just left within ten minutes. I'm not sure if I will be back for that night any time soon.
